Keith Richards, de jongste van de oorspronkelijke bandleden, werd geboren in december 1943, op de dag dat de Mills Brothers de Amerikaanse hitlijsten aanvoerden; ze waren de eerste Afro- Amerikaanse artiesten aan wie die eer ten deel viel na de lancering van de eerste officiële Billboard-lijst in januari 1940. Macari’s Musical Exchange – part of Wembley’s Pop Music history. This article only came about because of an enquiry to Wembley History Society. What were the name and address of a music shop in Ealing Road run by the Macari family around the 1960s, and could we provide a photograph of it? The first part was quite easy, Macari’s Musical Exchange was at 46b Ealing Road. But we can’t find a photograph of it. If anyone reading this has one, please share a copy of it with us (c/o Brent Archives)! 1. An old postcard of Ealing Road, with the shop's location arrowed. (Brent Archives online image 8823) Along with the shop’s address, we did receive a number of memories of the Macari family and the shop from the Society’s members and friends. Some of these were quite detailed. As they help to tell the story of those times, I decided to put them together in this article, both for general interest and for anyone who might like to know more about Wembley’s music history. 2. 1960s street map of Wembley, with shop's location marked. The Macari shop is not shown in the 1958 edition of Curley’s Directory of Wembley, but it probably opened soon afterwards, and appears in the 1962 and 1968 editions. There were two shops at number 46. -

25 – Soundalikes Ɣ Soundalikes by Artist 25 SOUNDALIKES Soundalikes by Artist In this section you will find songs which are built heavily on the Chuck Berry sound and guitar riffs, or strongly resemble one or other of Berry's songs. These 'soundalikes' demonstrate in no small measure Chuck Berry's musical influence. The information presented here was collected over five decades. 85% of the songs listed are in my own collection, but I am also extremely grateful to all the collectors and researchers who have contributed. It would simply have been impossible for me to buy every single record reputed to have some Berry resemblance, just to check it out. To qualify for inclusion, songs generally had to project a strong Berry feel, either in the song itself or in a typical Berry guitar solo, or a riff that is played over and over again (sharp-eyed readers will notice that qui te a few of the Berry tributes listed in Volume 2 (pages 753-781) also appear here). I have excluded songs that only feature bits and pieces of a Berry guitar riff. Some of the selections are inevitably subjective. I have often read in a review that so-and-so is a Berry soundalike, but when I listened to it, I could not recognise any Berry similarity at all – at least, not enough to include it in this survey. I have also included remakes of songs covered by Berry like 'Confessin' The Blues', 'Don't You Lie To Me', 'Down The Road A Piece', 'I Got To Find My Baby' and 'Route 66' if they follow his arrangement. -

Tony Papard reads a book Marti watches a film or two (or three) Keith goes off on one over the NHS (sort of) We “borrow” yet more stuff from Nick Cobban Soul Kitchen, Jazz Junction, Blues Rambling And more... 1 In this, Myra's second autobiographical book after 'Great Balls of Fire', she tells the story of her life rather than just about when she was Jerry Lee Lewis's third wife. Myra says she was advised, when writing the previous book, that nobody would want to read her life story, only about Jerry Lee. Well now she's written her own life story, and of course Jerry Lee pops up in it quite a bit, being her husband for 13 years and the father of their daughter, Phoebe. Myra had to cope with being a 13-year old schoolgirl one day, expecting to go back to class the next day and later to High School, and literally overnight finding herself a married woman, never to return to school and with all the chores and responsibilities of a wife. Myra grew up very quickly, furnished the house they bought together, did all the usual household chores, and of course gave birth to their first child, Steve Allen Lewis.
