Flag Football The SBCPRD Flag Football Program provides youth the opportunity to learn the basic rules and fundamentals of the game in a noncompetitive environment. All flag football players receive a team jersey and participate in practices and games.

Tackle Football--Child must be present at registration for weighing and fitting of equipment. Three tackle football leagues are offered by SBCPRD. The Tiny Mite Tackle League introduces players to the basic level of fundamentals and techniques and builds on skills learned in the Flag league. There are no standings kept in this league. The Minor Tackle League builds on the fundamentals learned in the tiny mite tackle league by introducing the higher skills of tackle football. Volunteer coaches focus on teaching techniques that a player will use in this league and in the future. The Midget Tackle League is for 11 and 12 year olds and introduces players to the finer points of football. Standings are kept and all teams advance to end of the season bowl games in both the Minor and Midget Tackle Leagues. FALL KICKOFF EVENT Team Introduction at first games for football, cheerleading and soccer at Mill Creek Regional Park. Saturday, September 22—more details to come! 2 CHEERLEADING & GOLF Cheerleading Recreation cheerleading is a wonderful recreation program for new and experienced cheerleaders, ages 4-12 years old. Learn cooperation, self confidence, respect, great friendships and all of the important skills of cheerleading. We do our best to place cheerleaders with their sibling football players (tackle leagues), but cannot always do so. We cannot guarantee sibling placement after August 17.

Uniform fitting deadline is Friday, August 17 at 5:30 pm. Due to ordering policies we are required to meet certain deadlines. After August 17, there will be an additional shipping fee added to uniform orders. Cheer Competition Thursday, November 8 7 PM Statesboro High School Gym Minor and Midget League Cheerleaders will show off their moves from the football season in one final competition. All cheerleaders will receive participation awards and we will have first and second place winners in the minor and midget divisions for best performance at the competition. Teams will be judged on showmanship, cheer technique, appearance, and overall impression. Each team will be required to perform a cheer and a dance. **All Tiny Mite League cheerleaders will perform a special cheer exhibition during the competition. Junior Golf Schools Local PGA Professionals will teach the proper etiquette and FUNdamentals of the game using SNAG, KwikGolf, and US Kids Equipment. Golf clubs are available for use. The sessions will be held at the Georgia Southern Uni- versity Golf Course and are open to beginners or experienced young golfers between the ages of 5-17 years old. Participants should wear golf or athletic shoes when attending. Each child is required to sign a waiver from the GSU golf course prior to participating. Soccer The SBCPRD Recreational Soccer League exists to provide youth the opportunity to participate in a fun, organized and safe environment. Emphasis is placed on the enjoyment of playing soccer while learning basic skills of the game. Fall soccer season runs August through October. All leagues are co-ed and meet two to three times per week.

Soccer Skills Challenge— Saturday, September 29, 9:30-11:30 am The Soccer Skills Challenge will be held on Saturday, September 29 at Mill Creek Park. The contest is free and open to boys and girls ages 6-13 (age as of Sept 1, 2018). Sign up at the event. Sponsored by Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market.

Youth Volleyball Volleyball is a very popular sport that is played professionally, as well as, in recreational leagues, on school teams, in backyards, sand- lots and beaches. Explore Archery Explore Archery is a versatile education activity program tailored for youth and families that are interested in be- ing introduced to the sport or looking for an activity that includes everyone. Archery is introduced through par- ticipation in individual and team-building activities that require fundamental skills, a competitive edge and a bit of creativity – not based on athletic abilities or the capability to shoot a perfect score. Outdoor Recreation Adventures Program A new program for kids ages 8 - 17, Outdoor Rec Adven- tures will teach the basics in four areas: Freshwater Fish- ing, Archery, Kayaking/Boating, and Hiking/Wilderness Interpretation. An Informational Meeting will be held Monday, August 27at 6 pm at the Honey Bowen Building on Fair Road to hear more about the program. Program will meet Mondays & Thursdays from 5-7 pm from September 6 - October 11. Cost is $85 per person. Space is limited.

Camp Adventure Days The Statesboro Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department offers full day activities (7:50 a.m. - 6 p.m.) for children who are out of school for breaks and in-service days. This camp is held at the former Julia P Bryant El- ementary School on Stockyard Road in Statesboro. HORSEBACK RIDING PROGRAMS & PARTIES 13

This program is designed for youth and adults who have been diagnosed with an emotional, physical, or cognitive disability. Experience outdoor fun and recreation while using the horse as a tool to im- prove posture, self-esteem, balance, coordination and more! Classes are held at Fletcher Memorial Park on Lakeview Road in 4-week sessions. Session one: September 4-25 Session two: October 2-23 Tuesdays, 4:30-7 p.m. Fee: $80/Bulloch County resident; $90/Out of County resident *Sponsors available for financial assistance Volunteer training will be held on Tuesday, August 28 at 6 pm and Tuesday, October 2 at 5 pm.

Horseback Riding Lessons Lessons are for beginner to intermediate levels. Rider must be at least 5 years old as of September 1, 2018. Ages are 5 and up. Held at Fletcher Park on Lakeview Road. Interested in horseback riding? Whether you want to ride English or Western get started with the basics of good riding skills. You can gain so much from riding lessons such as; patience, compassion for another being, responsibility, sportsmanship, and pure enjoyment with the outdoors. Make sure to wear something comfortable, preferably pants or jeans and closed toe shoes (boots or tennis shoes). August 20-September 28 Mon - Fri $150 for a 6 week session October 8-November 16 Mon - Fri $150 for a 6 week session (Rider chooses 1 day a week for a 45-minute time slot between the hours of 3 and 8 pm)
