Tea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 03-11-09 12:04 Tea From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Tea is the agricultural product of the leaves, leaf buds, and internodes of the Camellia sinensis plant, prepared and cured by various methods. "Tea" also refers to the aromatic beverage prepared from the cured leaves by combination with hot or boiling water,[1] and is the common name for the Camellia sinensis plant itself. After water, tea is the most widely-consumed beverage in the world.[2] It has a cooling, slightly bitter, astringent flavour which many enjoy.[3] The four types of tea most commonly found on the market are black tea, oolong tea, green tea and white tea,[4] all of which can be made from the same bushes, processed differently, and in the case of fine white tea grown differently. Pu-erh tea, a post-fermented tea, is also often classified as amongst the most popular types of tea.[5] Green Tea leaves in a Chinese The term "herbal tea" usually refers to an infusion or tisane of gaiwan. leaves, flowers, fruit, herbs or other plant material that contains no Camellia sinensis.[6] The term "red tea" either refers to an infusion made from the South African rooibos plant, also containing no Camellia sinensis, or, in Chinese, Korean, Japanese and other East Asian languages, refers to black tea. It comes from the Chinese words CHA (“tea”) and TAO (“way”) and translates “way of tea.” It refers not just to the Japanese tea ceremony, but also to an ancient traditional practice that has been evolving for 5,000 years or more. Catherine Douzel Essential Requirments: Tea cup, Winter shape Tea pot, no strainer Tea spoon Tea in leaf form Water at the boil An imaginative eye A dose of good humour Optional Extras: Napkin Milk and your choice of sweetner Warm the teapot and cup with hot water. Tip out the warming water from the pot then add to the empty warm pot one teaspoon of tea for each person drinking plus one more ‘for the pot’. Let steep the desired amount of time. Holding the cup in your less dominant hand, swirl it three times sunwise. Take the cup in both hands and slowly carefully turn the cup on its rim as you invert it onto the saucer. If youre worried about spills over the edge of the saucer, a clean napkin can be waiting on the saucer to catch your tea slops. Complete the action by placing the cup upside down on the saucer immediately after completing the turn out.

  • Drink the Tea & Read the Leaves the Joy of Reading Tea Leaves by Sharon
Drink the Tea & Read the Leaves The joy of reading tea leaves By Sharon Renae Intellectual Property of Sharon Renae, TLSEM, All Rights Reserved © Please do not distribute Reading Tea Leaves We goddesses love tea parties! Okay, this goddess does! When we had our new age store we had tea and tea leaf reading instructions available on Saturdays. It was fun and the participants enjoyed themselves. The important thing when reading tea leaf readings is to have fun. It is not about getting caught up in the accuracy or predictions it is about the energy shared between friends having tea and the fun of interpreting the leaves in the cup. I like to compare it to the Harry Potter movie Prisoner of Azbakan where they are in Divination class and Ron is reading Harry’s tea leaves – as says “You are going to suffer, but be very happy.” Although suffering is far from funny – it was funny and light to predict such a contradiction! Do it from a light frame of mind. If you read tea leaves in combination of interpreting and fun it can be quite enjoyable. In my current psychic development class I teach we have had so much fun with the tea leaves and having “tea” and the accoutrements we had a hard time moving on to something else! Through the learning and the play we have actually found there have been some accuracies and truth! Also called, tasseography, I had to know why it is called that and so I took 10 seconds to look it up and this is what Wikipedia said: The terms derive from the French word tasse (cup), which in turn derives from the cognate Arabic word tassa, and the Greek suffixes -graph (writing), -logy (study of), and -mancy (divination).

  • Middle Eastern Cuisine
MIDDLE EASTERN CUISINE The term Middle Eastern cuisine refers to the various cuisines of the Middle East. Despite their similarities, there are considerable differences in climate and culture, so that the term is not particularly useful. Commonly used ingredients include pitas, honey, sesame seeds, sumac, chickpeas, mint and parsley. The Middle Eastern cuisines include: Arab cuisine Armenian cuisine Cuisine of Azerbaijan Assyrian cuisine Cypriot cuisine Egyptian cuisine Israeli cuisine Iraqi cuisine Iranian (Persian) cuisine Lebanese cuisine Palestinian cuisine Somali cuisine Syrian cuisine Turkish cuisine Yemeni cuisine ARAB CUISINE Arab cuisine is defined as the various regional cuisines spanning the Arab World from Iraq to Morocco to Somalia to Yemen, and incorporating Levantine, Egyptian and others. It has also been influenced to a degree by the cuisines of Turkey, Pakistan, Iran, India, the Berbers and other cultures of the peoples of the region before the cultural Arabization brought by genealogical Arabians during the Arabian Muslim conquests. HISTORY Originally, the Arabs of the Arabian Peninsula relied heavily on a diet of dates, wheat, barley, rice and meat, with little variety, with a heavy emphasis on yogurt products, such as labneh (yoghurt without butterfat). As the indigenous Semitic people of the peninsula wandered, so did their tastes and favored ingredients. There is a strong emphasis on the following items in Arabian cuisine: 1. Meat: lamb and chicken are the most used, beef and camel are also used to a lesser degree, other poultry is used in some regions, and, in coastal areas, fish. Pork is not commonly eaten--for Muslim Arabs, it is both a cultural taboo as well as being prohibited under Islamic law; many Christian Arabs also avoid pork as they have never acquired a taste for it.

  • Tea Leaf Reading
Learn how to read tea leaves (and develop a sought after, fun skill) Workshops and frivolity conducted by Megan Bayliss (BSW, Dip SOC, MAASW, TAE) www.meganbayliss.thejunkwave.com Learn how to read tea leaves is a 2-hour bonus workshop offered to attendees of Megan’s Founding Astounding workshops, wherever they are held across Australia. Facebook: Founding Astounding Instagram PDCoachBayliss Tea Leaf Reading: Tea and coffee drinking is part of our social fabric – a shared hot drink seems to halve problems, isolation and loneliness. But even more so, reading the left-over tea leaves/coffee grinds is fun. It draws connections between people, helps us all to think intuitively and is a most delicious way to spend time with a friend, mentor or family. Once upon a time, gatherings of women used to gaze at the magical images that their tea leaves produced, and they would intuitively interpret what those images meant in day to day life. Ribbing each other about lovers, secrets, holidays or impending pregnancies, these women formed strong bonds and aided the development of intuitive links between each other and each other’s families – there is no mistaking in the history of tea leaf reading that friendships and support systems aided emotional intelligence. With the introduction of tea bags, the delightful skill of tea leaf reading (also known as tasseomancy and tasseography) almost dried out (pun intended) ...with it went the importance placed on intuition. Isn’t it time then that we all started to take tea with our friends and reconnect with our inner voice, our feelings, our intuition, our emotional intelligence? Not only have we today forgotten to befriend our intuition we have also forgotten to spend time in a group with friends.

As a child growing up in Yorkshire in the 1950s and ’60s I remember coming home from school, tired and hungry, and my mother would give me tea. In those days ‘tea’ was a meal in the late afternoon at about Wfive or six o’clock. Our midday meal was called dinner. This custom prevailed in the north of England for a long time and some people still talk about dinner at lunchtime and tea at, well, teatime.
