Head & Assistant Basketball Coaches | Aurora, CO Kraken is a youth and adult sports club, providing education and competition in the sports of basketball, futsal, volleyball, baseball, and softball. Our club is opening a new location in Aurora, Colorado. We offer basketball education, training, private instruction and boys and girls club teams. Our facility features 4 basketball / 8 volleyball hardwood courts, an indoor baseball/softball training center, a kid’s adventure park and a restaurant. We are excited to bring quality sports education and competition to our location in Colorado.
Information We are searching for experienced and passionate basketball coaches to add to our staff. We have coaching opportunities across the full age group range, minis, 2nd to 17U girls and boys teams. Kraken coaches foster great team culture and instill in their athletes the importance of being a good teammate. Fundamental understanding of basketball skills and how to instruct are of the utmost importance at Kraken. Coaches are expected to teach and train Kraken approved curriculum. Every practice must be executed with purposeful written practice plans that work towards team goes and individually developed athletes.
Kraken invests in our coaching staff and offer continuing coaching education, both with in-house mentoring and attendance at coaching clinics and conventions. We also support our coaches in their pursuit of AAU coaching certifications. Coaches have the opportunity to supplement their competitive coaching stipend by working camps, clinics, 1:1 and group lessons year round. Kraken hosts juniors and adults tournaments on our 7 basketball courts, and create fun, festival like basketball events for the entire family.
Time Commitment • 1.5-2.5 hours twice / weekly team practices • 2-3 tournaments / month, select events may require air travel • Full coach attendance of training sessions and tournaments are a MUST. All tournament absences and training conflicts must be disclosed prior to accepting a coaching position. Failure to meet this standard may result in reduced pay or release from the club
Head & Assistant Requirements: • AAU Coach Membership (Must obtain within 48 hours of coach offer from Kraken) • Background Clearance thru AAU and or Kraken contracted service • AAU Required Coach Certifications • Experience playing basketball in a competitive setting • Enthusiasm and passion for basketball and coaching youth • Valid State of Washington Driver's License • All requirements must be met prior to tryouts, only exception is training that is yet to be scheduled
Head Coach Experience: • 2+ years Head Coach experience in club and or school positions • Must be a strong communicator comfortable with athlete, parent and club leadership discussions • Experience creating positive learning environments that foster healthy competition and growth • Strong drive for continued growth and fully on-board with training Kraken approved curriculum (Kraken will teach and mentor coaches on approved curriculum) • Enthusiasm and Passion for coaching basketball and commitment to developing athletes and life skills
