WATCHMOJO – the Life and Career of David Bowie (1947-2016)
WATCHMOJO – The life and career of David Bowie (1947-2016) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lan_wotkon0 [Fashion] Welcome to watchmojo.com and today we're taking a look at the life and career of David Bowie. [Queen Bitch] David Robert Jones was born on January 8 1947 in Brixton London England. Though he showed musical interest at a young age it was only in the early 60s that he really pursued the art. He started by joining several blues bands but branched off on his own when they had little success. Renaming himself David Bowie he released his self-titled debut in 1967. [Who's that hiding in the apple tree clinging to a branch] Its lack of success led Bowie to participate in a promotional film called Love you till Tuesday which showcased several of his songs. A particular interest was Space Oddity : that track became a hit after it was released at the same time as the first moon landing. [Ground control to Major Tom] His sophomore effort of the same name however was another commercial disappointment. [The man who sold the world] To promote his third album The man who sold the world, Bowie was put in a dress to capitalize on his androgynous look. [Life on mars] [Ziggy Stardust] In 1971 a pop influenced record called Hunky-Dory came out and was followed by the creation of his flamboyant Ziggy Stardust persona and stage show with backing band The Spiders from Mars. Then came his breakthrough record The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars which climbed the charts thanks to his performance of the single Star Man on Top of the Pops. -

From “Please Mr. Gravedigger,” the theatrical closing number on his 1967 self-titled debut album, to virtually every track on his final record nearly 50 years later, the protean musician mused perpetually on all matters of mortality: the loss of loved ones (“Jump They Say,” about his brother’s suicide), the apocalyptic end of the world (“Five Years”), his own impending passing. -

Premium Denim
PREMIUM DENIM: HOW PREMIUM IS THE BRAND NAME by TIARRA S. WADE (Under the Direction of Jan M. Hathcote) ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to discuss the importance of the brand name on premium denim and the effect it has on the perceptions of the denim, the wearer and their brand loyalty behaviors. Implications for Premium Denim brands were found by researching the relationships between Brand Name, Back Pocket Embellishment, Perceptions of Quality and Perceptions of the wearer and how these variables lead to Brand Loyalty behaviors. The results of this study will provide takeaways for the branding aspects of Premium Denim brands. The medium for studying the impact of the brand name was an online survey in which participants were asked to give their opinions based on the back pocket embellishments of premium denim. This study found that Brand Loyalty amongst Premium Denim Wearers can be explained by the Perception of Quality. This has implications for Premium Denim producers and marketers that have the potential to increase their presence in the Premium Denim and apparel market. Delivering Content in Academic Libraries
Insights – 29(2), July 2016 Where are we now? Delivering content | Joanna Ball Where are we now? Delivering content in academic libraries Changes in scholarly communications and new business models are presenting academic libraries with challenges and opportunities which impact the way they approach the delivery of content. Libraries are re-evaluating internal processes and structures, enhancing and developing the skills within their teams, and embracing new possibilities for strengthening and enhancing partnerships with publishers and the academic community. This will not only enable them to manage in the current unstable and unpredictable environment, but empower them to influence and drive forward changes in the development of content and models. Under pressure The transformation of academic content presents both a direct challenge and new opportunities to the role of libraries. The content that we deliver is evolving and diversifying, not only from print to digital, but also from the traditional formats of book and journal article to new media such as research data and learning materials. Much of it is not even purchased or licensed by us, given the increase in what is available in the public domain or as open access (OA). Libraries are no longer defined by the collections within our buildings; the scope of the content we deliver and who we deliver it to is becoming difficult to define. JOANNA BALL Our focus is just as much about exposing and delivering university-generated outputs to the Head of Library outside world as providing licensed and purchased content to our own user communities. Content Delivery and Digital Strategy How we deliver that content is also changing: the traditional purchase and subscription University of Sussex models we have worked with comfortably for many years have been overtaken by a shifting landscape of demand-driven and e-textbook services. -

Argued January 11, 2006—Decided June 12, 2006 A Tennessee jury convicted petitioner House of Carolyn Muncey’s mur- der and sentenced him to death. The State’s case included evidence that FBI testing showing semen consistent (or so it seemed) with House’s on Mrs. Muncey’s clothing and small bloodstains consistent with her blood but not House’s on his jeans. In the sentencing phase, the jury found, inter alia, the aggravating factor that the murder was committed while House was committing, attempting to commit, or fleeing from the commission of rape or kidnaping. In affirming, the State Supreme Court described the evidence as circumstantial but strong. House was denied state postconviction relief. Subsequently, the Federal District Court denied habeas relief, deeming House’s claims procedurally defaulted and granting the State summary judgment on most of his claims. It also found, after an evidentiary hearing at which House attacked the blood and semen evidence and presented other evidence, including a putative confession, suggesting that Mr. -
