Rhye Releases New Single/Video, “Come in Closer” New Album, Home, out January 22Nd on Loma Vista Recordings January 7, 2021 For Immediate Release Rhye Releases New Single/Video, “Come in Closer” New Album, Home, Out January 22nd on Loma Vista Recordings (Photo Credit: Emma Marie Jenkinson) Rhye, the project of Los Angeles-based musician Michael Milosh, releases a new single/video, “Come in Closer,” from his forthcoming album, Home, out January 22nd on Loma Vista Recordings. As presented on previous singles “Black Rain,” “Beautiful,” and “Helpless,” every element of Home is intentional and meant to reverberate on a higher extra-sensory plane. This sense of purpose is just as clear on “Come in Closer,” which unfurls with ambient sounds from a rainstorm that descended upon his home studio in Topanga during tracking. Thematically, “Come in Closer” presents how “as relationships deepen and you invite someone into your world, your life, your home, layers of appreciation, vulnerability, and patience reveal themselves,” whether it be a romantic relationship as in the song or a relationship between siblings as in the video. Directed by Milosh and Genevieve Medow-Jenkins and shot in Big Sur, the video presents siblings “living without fear or inhibition, wild with the joy of simply being.” Watch Rhye’s Video for “Come in Closer” (“Come In Closer” still) Since the release of Rhye’s 2013 debut Woman, Milosh mostly lived on the road, playing up to one hundred shows a year and decamping in Toronto, Montreal, Thailand, the Netherlands, Germany and Los Angeles. On the heels of some major life changes, including a new relationship with Medow-Jenkins, he yearned for a more permanent space, a balm for the restless spirit and a place to simply be. Home, the follow-up to 2018’s Blood, is centered around the idea of home as the core of creativity and community. It’s familiar in its synthesis of propulsive beats, orchestral flourishes, piano ruminations and sultry, gender-nonconforming vocals, but never have they sounded more cohesive or alive. Written throughout 2019 and early 2020, Home was recorded at United Recording Studios, Revival at The Complex (Earth, Wind, & Fire), as well as Milosh’s home studio, and mixed by Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Interpol, My Bloody Valentine). The album features the Danish National Girls’ Choir, who Rhye performed with at a landmark concert in Denmark in 2017. Recently, Milosh and SG Lewis collaborated on “Time,” “an exuberant classically-minded club track” (FADER). It was written at Milosh’s home studio and inspired by a Topanga Canyon sunset. The pandemic made Michael Milosh think about his artistic motivations, and he channeled that energy into a calming music video" — Vanity Fair "[‘Beautiful’] starts with a throb of strings before cohering around a sharp beat and muscular bass line, distantly echoing solo Bryan Ferry tracks from the early Eighties.” - Rolling Stone “[‘Black Rain’ is] a slinky, lithe track” - Stereogum “‘Black Rain’ is versatile and intriguing, blending subtle synths, steady beats and Milosh’s lustrous vocals.” - Paste “‘Helpless’ shows the potential for how fleshed-out and impressive his quarantine output can be.” - Uproxx Download cover art & hi-res images of Rhye (Home Cover Artwork) Artist Site | Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | Loma Vista Recordings For more information, contact: Jessica Linker | Pitch Perfect PR – [email protected], 773-942-6954 Sam McAllister | Pitch Perfect PR – [email protected], 651-528-3577 ## .

Rhymes and Linkin Park recently collaborated on “We Made It,” the first single and video from Rhymes’ upcoming album, Blessed. By touring together, Linkin Park & Busta are taking a cue from the chorus of their song: “…we took it on the road…”. As recently pointed out in Rolling Stone’s “Summer Tour Guide,” the tour will see nine acts joining rock superstars Linkin Park, who are also offering concertgoers a digital souvenir pack that includes a recording of the band’s entire set. As the band’s co-lead vocalist Mike Shinoda told the magazine, “That puts extra pressure on us to make sure our set is different every night.” The fifth installation of Linkin Park’s raging road show will see them headlining an all-star bill that features former Soundgarden/Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell, electro-rockers The Bravery and Ashes Divide featuring Billy Howerdel, known for his work with A Perfect Circle.

  • Swervedriver
Swervedriver In 1990 London's indie-rock guitar scene was developing a distinctive new psychedelic sound: swirling, dreamy, mysterious and very much of the British Isles. One band stood out by hot-wiring that sound with the subversive energy of some American bands of the era and that band was Swervedriver. They had the liquid distortion of shoegaze combined with the cool swagger of Hüsker Dü, Sonic Youth, and Dinosaur Jr - giving them a unique sound and attitude. Relocating from Oxford to London, guitarists Adam Franklin and Jimmy Hartridge, bassist Adi Vines and drummer Graham Bonnar debuted with a series of landmark Creation Records EPs, Son of Mustang Ford, Rave Down, and Sandblasted. Their full-length debut, 1991's Raise, to this day is hailed by Pitchfork as an album full of "muscular, scorching guitars" that "still bring the noise like nobody's business" with Mojo stating that Son of Mustang Ford "remains one of the most glorious tunes to emerge in the wake of the so-called grunge explosion of '89, matching Adam Franklin and Jim Hartridge's motorised guitar-weaving with a beguiling, below-the-line vocal melody and lyrics that celebrated the joy of wide-open American freeways." The band toured the album extensively, including a lengthy US tour with Soundgarden that brought their wall of sound to thousands. However with both Bonnar and Vines leaving the band not long after, the 1992 EP Never Lose That Feeling looked like it might be Swervedriver's (albeit scorching) swan song. Then in late 1992, Franklin and Hartridge demoed a new tune Duress, recruited drummer Jez Hindmarsh and set about recording a second full-length album Mezcal Head with Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine/Led Zeppelin), which included their biggest singles Duel and Last Train To Satansville.

  • Recording Nine Inch Nails Issue 10
will always try other people’s ideas, because I’ve learned through bitter experience not to shoot the baby before it’s born. You can learn from anyone. Sometimes someone with no musical idea will come up with something from a com- pletely different angle which is sheer genius, and “I havIe found that you can learn a lot from the most sur- prising sources.” That’s one of Alan Moulder’s takes on his art and given that some of these ‘surprising’ sources have included seminal acts such as Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Jesus & Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Moby, U2, Swervedriver and Curve, you can tell that Moulder has enjoyed an enlightening and varied musical education. At the same time, for a large slice of the past two decades this versatile and highly accomplished producer, recording engineer and mixer has lent his own considerable skills to the work of an eclectic cache of artists, and the results have ranged from the sublime to flat-out nail-your-ears-to-the-wall ball-busting asperity. Hailing from the small English town of Boston in Lin- colnshire, Moulder was influenced by the sounds of bands like The Beatles, T-Rex, Slade, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Echo and the Bunnymen during his formative years. He played guitar in local bands, and first saw the inside of a studio when recording some demos. After giving himself a good crack at being a rock star, at the age of 24 he started his studio career in earnest at Trident Studios in London.
