2 SUMMARY Ever since Mel Fisher began looking for the 1622 fleet off the coast of Florida, his life changed. It took him 13 years before he struck gold—but boy was it worth it. Mel and his grown children would go on to discover one half of the Nuestra Señora de Atocha unearthing $400 million dollars in gold, silver, jewels, and other rare artifacts. Kim Fisher, now the patriarch of the family business, continues the search for the second half of the ship that was blown apart by a hurricane off the Florida coast. The remaining wreck has $300 million worth of riches buried inside including untold items that were brought onboard by the Catholic Church as well as 38 members of the Spanish aristocracy that bypassed the ship’s manifest.
