We see a video documentary which talks about Rod forming the faces Rod Stewart Intro Video: https://youtu.be/5oNalNlTP5w 1969 was the year that one of the wildest Bands in rock n roll history was formed. The group regularly toured Britain, Europe and the United States from 1970 to 1975, and were among the top-grossing live acts in that period. The Faces were a force to be reckoned with. Their front man; who was also enjoying success as a solo artist, had proved himself to be as flamboyant and outrageous as any of his peers. His wild stage antics coupled with his unique raspy yet soulful voice would send him on a trajectory to the dizzy heights of fame and fortune he could only have imagined as a young man growing up in north London. The one and only… Rod Stewart Rod enters stage right with the exact same look as the freeze frame at the end of the video 4. Stay with me 5. You’re in my heart 6. Maggie may 7. Do ya think I’m sexy Rod exits stage left Tina Turner Intro Video: https://youtu.be/9ivCQWg2bsQ Rod Stewart had seen his fair share of success around the world but was very aware of the changes and challenges that lay ahead. He was not the only one trying to stay ahead of the game. A close friend of his was facing a tough challenge in her career. She had been influential to Rod with the music she and her husband had created throughout the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Ike and Tina turner had tasted the sweetness of success but it had come at a price for Tina. Tina enters stage left the exact same look as the freeze frame at the end of the video Old Tina set: 8. Industry executives told her she was too old to make a comeback but she wouldn’t listen to them. Neither would her colleagues, who encouraged and helped her in the only way they knew how. Making music together. Tina Turner sang a series of duets with the likes of David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Brian Adams, Rod Stewart and Mick Jagger. The stage was then set for the biggest come back in rock and roll history as Tina Turner surpassed her previous success and went on to be one of the worlds best selling music artist of all time. • Rod Stewart Impersonator Rob Caudill Returning to Bristol
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Darlene Cole, Deputy Director Wednesday, August 27, 2014 Community Relations Office Phone: 423-764-4171 Office 423-366-7047 Mobile E-Mail: [email protected] Rod Stewart impersonator Rob Caudill returning to Bristol There are always songs that when they come on the radio, you go back to a time and place when that song was playing and memories were made. That is what Rob Caudill will be bringing to the Paramount Theatre stage as Rod Stewart-memories of an era gone by. From Hot Legs, Infatuation, Maggie May, and Forever Young to Downtown Train, each song will spark a time in life when you were young, the days were long, and love was new. The Friday, October 3rd event is sponsored by the local Marsh Regional Blood Center and hosted in the Paramount Theatre located on State Street in Bristol’s historic downtown at 7:00PM. Darlene Cole, Deputy Director of Community Relations said, “We have worked with Marsh Regional Blood Center before sponsoring other shows but this one has everyone so excited. It has all the elements of being at a Rod Stewart show in a glamorous setting such as the Paramount. If you haven’t seen Rob in concert, you have got to see this gentleman, from the accent, the onstage persona, to the voice, it is Rod Stewart.” Marsh Regional Blood Center has been the largest hometown supplier of blood and blood products in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia for more than 60 years. “The blood collected by Marsh stays here in the community.

ABSTRACT OF THE DISSERTATION Hip-hop, Streetdance, and the Remaking of the Global Filipino by Jeffrey Lorenzo Perillo Doctor of Philosophy in Culture and Performance University of California, Los Angeles, 2013 Professor Susan Leigh Foster, Committee Co-Chair Professor Victor Bascara, Committee Co-Chair New York-based African American, Latino, and Caribbean immigrant youth of the 1960s and early 1970s gave life to one of the world's major contemporary cultural movements: Hip-hop. Initially misunderstood as a faddish form of Black male musical expression, Hip-hop's cultural resistance practices were quickly recognized as four core elements (emceeing, turntablism, graffiti art, and b-boying/b-girling). In the global context, Hip-hop has generated scholarly discourse that points to either the cultural globalization of American Blackness or a "global village." My project interrupts this conversation and focuses on the unique, multi-site cultural history of Filipino identity as constituted through practitioners of Hip-Hop dance. My work argues that a community of Filipinos, situated in different geo-political loci—Berkeley, California, Honolulu, Hawai‘i, and Manila, Philippines—configure prevailing concepts of Hip-hop while remaking conditions of ! ii dispossession and displacement in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
