One way in which they did this was by commissioning operas based on the lives of saints from the poet Giulio Rospigliosi (later Pope Clement IX), and papal musicians Stefano Landi and Virgilio Mazzocchi. Aside from the merit of providing an in-depth look at four of these little-known works, Sant’Alessio (1632, 1634), Santi Didimo e Teodora (1635), San Bonifatio (1638), and Sant’Eustachio (1643), this dissertation also discusses how these operas reveal changing ideas of faith, civic pride, death and salvation, education, and the role of women during the first half of the seventeenth century. The analysis of the music and the drama stems from studies of the surviving manuscript scores, libretti, payment records and letters about the first performances.

Nella prima sezione le voci bibliografiche sono riportate in ordine alfabetico, nella seconda e nella terza in ordine alfabetico per autore, con l'avvertenza che le recensioni seguono le voci relative ad ogni autore. La sezione Addenda comprende alcune integrazioni relative a anni precedenti e non apparse nella precedente edizione di questa bibliografia relativa agli anni 2008-2012. Nel complesso la bibliografia riguarda essenzialmente i lavori pubblicati in campo slavistico di interesse storico, storico-culturale, letterario, filologico e linguistico. Articoli o libri di argomento sociologico, politologico o economico, o di carattere pubblicistico non sono stati presi in considerazione. Si è cercato, per quanto possibile, di uniformare tutte le segnalazioni bibliografiche e di fornire il maggior numero possibile di informazioni. Per i volumi si è sempre indicato il luogo e l'anno di edizione, ma se conosciuta si è riportata anche la casa editrice. Dei saggi contenuti in opere miscellanee o degli articoli pubblicati su riviste si è cercato di indicare sempre il numero delle pagine. Delle riviste si è riportato l'anno di pubblicazione, indicato tra parentesi tonde, facendolo precedere dall'annata, se conosciuta. In caso di riviste di cui esce un solo volume all'anno, il numero progressivo del volume si è fatto coincidere con l'annata. In caso di doppia numerazione dei fascicoli, si è riportata quella progressiva all'interno dell'anno, seguita tra parentesi da quella complessiva dall'inizio della pubblicazione.

L’occasione è data dalla commemorazione del centenario della promulgazione della Lettera apostolica “Maximum Illud” di Papa Benedetto XV sull’impegno mis- sionario della Chiesa. Penso possa essere utile per ognuno di noi entrare in questo mese missionario con l’aiuto proprio delle parole del Papa e in particolare dal messaggio per la Giornata Mis- sionaria del prossimo 20 ottobre diff uso, come sempre, il giorno di Pentecoste, e dal’omelia tenuta durante i vespri il primo giorno di questo mese. Papa Francesco, aprendo il mese missionario straordi- nario lo scorso 1 ottobre, memoria di Santa Teresa di Gesù Bambino, patrona delle missioni, ha di nuovo ribadito quello che va ripetendo fi n dall’inizio del suo pontifi cato: “la Chiesa se non è in uscita non è Chiesa”. Questo mese missionario vuole essere, dunque, una scossa per ogni battezzato perché si senta fi nalmente invia- to, missionario per natura. Aveva scritto il Papa nel suo messaggio per la Giornata Missionaria Mondiale di quest’anno: “il mandato missio- nario è un mandato che ci tocca da vicino: io sono sempre una missione; tu sei sempre una missione; ogni battezzata e battezzato è una missione”.
