It reveals basic types of location of the monasteries in relation to the defensive perimeter within the town area. The article analyzes the peculiarities of the placement of buildings in the structure of town quarters, the regularity of the development of monas- tery territories. It reveals monastery complexes surrounded by their own walls and mon- asteries, which were defended due to town fortifications. Key words: monastery complex defensive buildings, order, natural defence, location, defensive perimeter, within the town area. STRESZCZENIE W artykule zbadano 40 klasztorów obronnych z XVII i XVIII wieku w Ukrainie Zachodniej. Przedstawiono podstawowe typy ulokowania klasztorów w obwodzie obronnym śródmie- ścia. Przeprowadzono analizę osobliwości ulokowania obiektów w strukturze kwartałów, regularność zabudowania terenów klasztornych. Przedstawiono zespoły klasztorne, oto- czone własnymi murami oraz klasztory, które broniły siebie dzięki fortyfikacjom śródmie- ścia. ISSN 1392-110X Th e Yezupil I archaeological loess site, situated in the East Carpathian Foreland (Ukraine), Jarosław Kusiak, with two cultural layers (Middle and Upper Palaeolithic), has been systematically investigated by archaeologists and naturalists for about 20 years. Th ese joint researches gave a very good basis for Andrij Boguckij, the palaeogeographical, cultural, and stratigraphic interpretation of the profi le. Th e scope of the research included also TL analysis. Th e set of TL dates obtained formerly at the Lublin laboratory Oleksandr Sytnyk was supplemented with the dating results from the Gdańsk laboratory. Altogether, 28 samples were dated, enabling us to establish the chronostratigraphy of the profi le. Th e obtained results cor- relate well with the European schemes of Pleistocene stratigraphy and Palaeolithic periodization. Additionally, fi nds connected with considerably younger (Holocene) settlement phases (Early Neolithic, Iron Age) in the Dniester River valley were dated. Robocza wersja wykazu polskich nazw geograficznych świata W wykazie uwzględnione zostały wyłącznie te obiekty geograficzne, dla których Komisja Standaryzacji Nazw Geograficznych poza Granicami Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej zaleca stosowanie polskich nazw (tj. egzonimów lub pseudoegzonimów). Robocza wersja wykazu zawiera zalecane polskie nazwy wg stanu na 26 czerwca 2013 r. – do czasu ostatecznej publikacji lista tych nazw może ulec niewielkim zmianom. Układ wykazu bazuje na układzie zastosowanym w zeszytach „Nazewnictwa geograficznego świata”. Wykaz podzielono na części odpowiadające częściom świata (Europa, Azja, Afryka, Ameryka Północna, Ameryka Południowa, Australia i Oceania, Antarktyka, formy podmorskie). Każda z części rozpoczyna się listą zalecanych nazw oceanów oraz wielkich regionów, które swym zasięgiem przekraczają z reguły powierzchnie kilku krajów. Następnie zamieszczono nazwy według państw i terytoriów. Z kolei nazwy poszczególnych obiektów geograficznych ułożono z podziałem na kategorie obiektów. W ramach poszczególnych kategorii nazwy ułożono alfabetycznie w szyku właściwym (prostym). Hasła odnoszące się do poszczególnych obiektów geograficznych zawierają zalecaną nazwę polską, a następnie nazwę oryginalną, w języku urzędowym (endonim) – lub nazwy oryginalne, jeśli obowiązuje więcej niż jeden język urzędowy albo dany obiekt ma ustalone nazwy w kilku językach. Jeżeli podawane są polskie nazwy wariantowe (np. Mała Syrta; Zatoka Kabiska), to nazwa pierwsza w kolejności jest tą, którą Komisja uważa za właściwszą, uznając jednak pozostałe za dopuszczalne (wyjątek stanowią tu długie (oficjalne) nazwy niektórych jednostek administracyjnych). Czasem podawana jest tylko polska nazwa – oznacza to, że dany obiekt geograficzny nie jest nazywany w kraju, w którym jest położony lub nie odnaleziono poprawnej lokalnej nazwy tego obiektu. W przypadku nazw wariantowych w językach urzędowych na pierwszym miejscu podawano nazwę główną danego obiektu. Dla niektórych obiektów podano także, w nawiasie na końcu hasła, bardziej znane polskie nazwy historyczne.

TEKA 2018, Nr 1 Komisji Architektury, Urbanistyki i Studiów Krajobrazowych Oddział Polskiej Akademii Nauk w Lublinie Hypothetic Reconstruction of The Development of The Defensive Structures of The Middle Town of Rohatyn in 15th−17th Centuries Mykola bevz e-mail: [email protected] Department of Architecture and Conservation, L’viv Polytechnic National University, Department of Built Conservation, Lublin University of Technology Abstract: On the Rohatyn example we want to demonstrate: a) how the battles, assault and destruction of the town influenced the character of its urban and architectural develop- ment (as shown by the example of the Battle of 1509 and the events of World War I); b) how important the fortification element was in the past in towns of Halychyna region; c) what methodology can be used to reconstruct the stages of development of urban fortifications, given that today they are almost completely lost; d) the importance of a thorough analysis of the current state of the territory and the town’s relief, the study of historical documents, analysis of cartographic materials and iconographic sources for the theoretical reconstruction of stages of development of fortifications. The town of Rohatyn belongs to the oldest urban locations that existed according to the German (Magdeburg) law in the territory of Western Ukraine. The great chronological depth of the town’s urban structure has been often mentioned by researchers. However, academic literature does not yet fully cover the changes made to the planning of the town’s structure during the 15th−17th centuries. Similarly, the stages of development of the town’s defensive lines were not identified, although historical documents contain many references to the existence of fortifications around the middle town and the castle.
