ABSTRACT Projection of urban life-world become a vibrant topic of discussion for both film studies and urban studies. The representation of urbanity in cinema helps the people to experience the vibrancy of the urbanization process and also make them orchestrated with the changing situation. This paper attempts to analyze the urban-life world projected in the Assamese regional filmmaker Bhabendra Nath Saikia‟s first film Sandhyarag (1977). The study is based on textual analysis method and by taking the film Sandhyarag as the primary source, this study attempts to establish the film as a historical document of urbanization process of Assam.
