AT LEFT: Several free courses are offered on the NCF training website. NCF launches free training website THE National Cultural Foundation (NCF) has officially launched a free website opening a virtual door for persons to learn a wide range of disciplines in the Arts from the comfort of their own home. Basketry, video production, joinery,act- ing, dance and spoken word are just a few of the online classes which can now be ac- cessed through the NCF’s website under “Training’. Yesterday during a press conference via Zoom, Chief Executive Officer Carol Roberts-Reifer explained the importance of the initiative, which was created as a result of the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. She reminded those in attendance that a training programme in partnership with the Division of Community Development was launched back in March and was originally to be spread across 24 community centres. “The arrival of COVID-19 in Barbados and the resulting national shutdown and NCF’s Chief Executive Officer, Carol emergency measures forced us to halt Roberts-Reifer. the full rollout of the project and to re- evaluate its structure. Wednesday June 30, 2021 NCSA adapting to change in demand By Cara L. Jean-Baptiste

THE National Council on Substance Abuse (NCSA) is changing and adapting to the demands of the 21st century. This is according to Troy Wickham, Deputy Manager of the NCSA, who spoke during a recent virtual Badge Day presentation. “Our programmes can now be delivered through the use of technology. This approach is entitled ‘Drug Education through Technology’ and its aim is to transform programme delivery for children and adults by maximising available outlets in a modern learning environment,” he said. “The requirements of the world as we know are changing at a rapid pace. We, the inhabitants and actors of the world, must adapt as fast as possible. With this being said, the NCSA has changed our services. We service all public and have modified several oral drug education programmes.” The Deputy Manager revealed that FOOD ASSISTANCE FROM MASSY – Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, the Hon.
