The Vitruviano is an exceptionally elegant, quarter bent Apple and, like all of the shapes within the Leonardo series, makes a one time appearance and then is retired. Each Vitruviano is emblazoned with a handsome relief of the Vitruvian Man in gold-colored metal, and arrives in a special box, accompanied by a certificate and a dedicated tamper. The Leonardo Uomo Vitruviano is available as a smooth in the Natural, Brown, Dark Brown, and Black Dress, or in a handsome rustication. While the historical figure of Lancelot was only allowed but a glimpse of the grail itself, when executed as one of Savinelli’s famous 320 authors, the Lancillotto becomes something of a grail in its own right. Though many Americans think of liquorice only in terms of either black of red ropes, one can find untold variations of swirled colors within the finished candies of Italy. The naming inspiration of the Liquirizia series was born within the subtle, swirled colors found in the stem, a melding of hues that, as you can see, is quite complementary to the smooth, medium chocolate stain. And so it goes with the finely rusticated buff/wheat hues of this most amiable Savinelli series, shown off to fine advantage by this classic 128 Billiard shape. With the advent and increasing popularity of the “historically informed performances” of the late 20th century, the Pianoforte has once again taken the stage. Savinelli’s new “Pigna” (pine-cone) series boasts an adroit surface carving which falls to the far right of the artisanal scale, as well as a complete absence of stain. The Pigna series also features an eye-catching stem; one that is reminiscent of the wonderfully rich hues found in marbleized jade.
