Uli Jon Roth, il chittarrista degli Scorpions nonché emulo di Jimi Hendrix venerdi’ 14 agosto ad Avasinis (UD) Imperdibile appuntamento – ad ingresso gratuito – alla vigilia di Ferragosto per i fan dell’hard rock e dell’heavy con lo storico chitarrista degli Scorpions Uli Jon Roth alla “Festa del Lampone e del Mirtillo” di Avasinis (unica data in Italia inframezzata ai concerti di Copenaghen e Londra). Uli Jon Roth (all’anagrafe Ulrich Roth) è noto per essere stato chitarrista della band tedesca degli Scorpions nei primi anni ’70 con i quali ha pubblicato cinque album Fly( to the Rainbow, In Trance, Virgin Killer, Taken by Force e il live Tokyo Tapes). Dopo aver abbandonato gli Scorpions ha fondato gli Electric Sun, tre gli album pubblicati con la band, ed ha proseguito la sua carriera come solista che lo ha visto collaborare con moltissimi artisti della scena rock mondiale. Da molti è considerato il discepolo di Jimi Hendrix, non è un caso quindi che il concerto che Uli proporrà al pubblico venerdì sarà intitolato: “Scorpions Revisited e omaggio a Jimi Hendrix”. Sarà davvero un’occasione unica per vedere dal vivo questo artista dotato di notevole tecnica e velocità nonché punto di riferimento per numerosi chitarristi moderni. La Pro Loco “Amici di Avasinis”, nell’ambito della Festa del Lampone e del Mirtillo, proporrà altri due appuntamenti musicali, di genere completamente diverso, nelle serate a seguire: sabato 15 si esibirà infatti Elhaida Dani, giovane e talentuosa cantante di Scutari che ha conquistato Riccardo Cocciante e il pubblico di “The Voice” 2013, mentre domenica 16 agosto sarà la volta dei Daniel Sentacruz ensemble, famosi fra gli anni’70 e 80 anche per aver venduto più di cinque milioni di dischi con il brano “Soleado”. Appuntamento quindi ad Avasinis in piazza 2 maggio, ribattezzata l’Anfiteatro della Musica – Arena del Lampone e del Mirtillo, che con la sua scalinata farà da palcoscenico ai tanti eventi gratuiti. März 2015, Von: Redaktion, Foto(s): Promo-/Pressefreigabe Zwischen 1973 und 1978 war der Gitarrist Uli Jon Roth bei den hannoverschen Hardrock- Größen Scorpions aktiv. Auf einigen Alben aus dieser Ära befinden sich auch zahlreiche Kompositionen des weltweit einflussreichen Rock-und Fusion-Musikers. Mit „Scorpions Revisited“ hat er kürzlich ein Solo-Album mit Neuinterpretationen einiger Scorpions- Songs veröffentlicht. Im Oktober wird Roth damit in Hannover im MusikZentrum auftreten. Bei den Scorpions war der virtuose und innovative Musiker nicht nur als Gitarrist aktiv, zahlreiche Songs aus den Alben, die, die Band zwischen 1973 und 1978 herausbrachte, stammen aus seiner Feder oder wurden von ihm mitkomponiert. Concert for Streetdogs – the very first! In Lisbon (Portugal) there is going to take place the very first charity concert for streetdogs (February 9th, 2019). The entire revenues are donated to neglected, hurt and maltreated dogs. Famous musicians from Germany as well as Portugal support this project looking forward to an unforgettable “Rock 'n Flamenco” eve that is hardly topped with respect to its exclusiveness and intimacy. The concert is led by the exceptional musician on the guitar named Uli Jon Roth (Scorpions / Electric Sun et al). No doubt that Roth belongs to the most popular guitar players in the world being able to shape with his style the first lp's of the Scorpions and besides, influencing a variety of other grand musicians worldwide. Grobkonzept Scorpions-Ausstellung „Die Scorpions – Rock You Like A Hurricane“ (Arbeitstitel) Die Scorpions – eine deutsche Band – , die kaum einen Superlativ ausgelassen hat. Bereits Ende der 1960er planen sie eine internationale Karriere, die ihnen auch nicht verwehrt werden sollte. Sie haben alles gesehen und erlebt, was das Rockbusiness zu bieten hat. Mit dem Smash-Hit „Wind Of Change“ eroberten sie sich nicht nur die Charts der Welt, sondern machten sich auch mit einem Eintrag in die Geschichtsbücher unsterblich. Nun neigt sich ihre unvergleichliche Karriere dem Ende zu. Mit einer Tournee um den Globus begeben sie sich ein letztes Mal auf den Weg, den Spirit zu verbreiten, der sie als Band ganz nach oben geführt hat: Fünf Freunde rocken für eine freie Welt. Damit bieten die Scorpions umfangreiches Material für eine Sonderausstellung, die sowohl hinter die glitzernden Kulissen schauen als auch den Hauch des Historischen spüren lässt. Das Drehbuch der Ausstellung schreibt die Bandbiografie. Auf einer Fläche von 800 qm zeigt das rock’n’popmuseum den Weg von einer Hannoveraner Band an die Spitze des internationalen Rock’n’Roll. Zum Exponat-Bestand zählen jegliche Dokumentationen der Bandgeschichte: eine komplette Diskografie, Bühnenkleidung, Instrumente, Verträge, sonstiger Schriftverkehr, Bühnenbaupläne, Song-Texte, Preise bzw. Ehrungen (Gold-Awards, Echo etc.), Backstage- Fotografien/Filmaufnahmen, Filmmitschnitte von Konzerten, Plakate usw: Die Begrüßungsfanfare Die Begrüßung und emotionale Einstimmung übernimmt die Sound- und Lichtinstallation „Please welcome – The Scorpions“. In der abgedunkelten Zugangsschleuse zum Ausstellungsraum ist gedämpfter Publikumsjubel wahrnehmbar, vergleichbar dem Gang zur Bühne. Nach der Öffnung der zweiten Tür wird der Besucher von einem Blitzlichtergewitter empfangen, das akustisch unterstützt wird von aufbrandendem Publikumsjubel und der Ankündigung „Please welcome - the Scorpions“ (vielleicht von Rudolf Schenker gesprochen).

“Master of Puppets”—Metallica (1986) Added to the National Registry: 2015 Essay by Daniel Bukszpan (guest post)* Album cover Album label Metallica “Master of Puppets” is the third full-length album from San Francisco’s Metallica. It was released in 1986, and it’s hard to overstate the significance that it had upon its release, as well as its continued relevance today. Formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield, Metallica is one of the most popular bands in the world. Its self-titled 1991 album was certified platinum 16 times over by the Recording Industry Association of America, and the band has sold overall 125 million albums. However, before any of that happened, Metallica was about as underground as it got, and the idea of them achieving their current commercial status was once inconceivable. “Master of Puppets” changed all that and, at the same time, broke the thrash metal movement wide open for mainstream acceptance. Metallica stood at the forefront of the 1980s thrash metal scene, a commercially unpalatable genre that alienated most mainstream listeners, many of whom didn’t even recognize it as music. The songs were too complex, the tempos were too fast and the guitars were too bludgeoning. From the first listen, you were either on board or you weren’t. The band’s two previous albums were influenced by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), personified by bands like Motorhead, which stressed fast tempos and unpolished production. Metallica took that sound on the road and built their following through relentless touring, finally gaining enough notice to be signed to a major label, Elektra Records.
