Parish Pilgrimage to the Happy Father’s Day!

Father Kevin Gillespie and a group of 13 parishioners are visiting the Holy Land from June 13-23.

The Holy Trinity Parish Pilgrimage Group will remember you and your intentions during our pilgrimage and as we celebrate the Eucharist at:  Mount of Beatitudes, place of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount  Capernaum, town of Christ’s teachings and miracles  Sea of Galilee  Church of the Primacy of Peter, place of Jesus’ A Prayer for the Fathers in Our Lives reinstatement of Peter as chief among the Apostles We give our thanks, Creator God, for the fathers in our  Basilica of the Annunciation and Grotto of the lives. We  Church of in Gallicantu, place of Peter’s ask for Your blessings for them all and forgiveness denial where it is needed.  Bethlehem, place of Jesus’ birth  Calvary, place of the Crucifixion of our Lord This Father's Day, we remember the many sacrifices fathers make for their children and families, and the ways—both big and small—they lift children to achieve

dreams thought beyond reach.

So, too, we remember all those who have helped fill the void when fathers pass early or are absent: grandfathers, uncles, brothers, cousins, teachers,

pastors, coaches and women of our families.

For those who are fathers, we ask for wisdom and humility in the face of the task of parenting. Give them the strength to do well by their children and by You.

In Your Holy name, O God, we pray. Amen.

Summer Reading Recommendations

Aubrey-Maturin series by Patrick O’Brian This is cheating a little, but for summer reading I recommend this series of sea-faring tales that I first read about 20 years ago. With 20 published books (and one unfinished novel), there is plenty to work with, and once I entered the world of Napoleonic naval warfare I just couldn't get enough of it. I even bought a compendium so that I could learn all about the masts and riggings!

Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion by Fr. Greg Boyle, S.J. It is a compelling and true story about Fr. Boyle's work setting up Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles. It graphically depicts what it means to follow God's commandment to love one another no matter what. —Kate Tromble, Pastoral Associate for Social Justice
