The competition welcomes entries from commercial, mid and small sized craft breweries, microbrewers and home brewers. WA is considered the birthplace of craft beer in Australia and with an increasing number of breweries and amateur enthusiasts displaying their passion for quality beer. The Perth Royal Beer Awards has enjoyed growth with a consistently of high quality entries. MISSION STATEMENT To showcase the quality, craftmanship, flavour and diversity of Australian brewed beer. He was introduced to the world of brewing over lazy days at the Sail and Anchor, and first joined the industry at The Monk in Fremantle as it opened in 2007. He became head brewer in early 2008, and that year completed a Graduate Diploma in Micro Brewing at Edith Cowan University under the watch of Western Australia’s leading beer sage Hugh Dunn. In 2011, he joined the team at the Swan Brewery as Technical Brewer under the tutelage of fellow judge Sean Symons. He maintained his passion for craft brewing throughout this time, looking after brewing duties at The Generous Squire in Perth as part of the Malt Shovel team. In 2013, Justin joined the Colonial Brewing Co team as head brewer, spending 2 years in Margaret River, before moving east to launch Colonial’s second facility in Port Melbourne. In late 2016, Justin joined the team at Bintani Australia, as the Head of Sales, Products and Development. He is passionate about helping brewers innovate and develop their technical skills as the industry continues to grow and his role with Bintani enables him to engage with brewers across the country to achieve this. He has been involved in judging across the country, with participating in competitions with CBIA, AIBA, Brewers guild of New Zealand as well as past Perth Royal Beer Shows.
