Our Instructors Trevor Galyon – Originally from Tuscon, AZ, Trevor has been riding horses for as long as he can remember. Starting at age 7, he competed regularly in calf roping on his trusty quar- ter horse, Rafter. Trevor was a member of the Arizona Jr. Rodeo Assn. for over 11 years and was president of the Junior Calf Roping Assn. Currently, Trevor is serving his com- munity as a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy and member of the Greene County Sheriff’s Posse. Service work continues during off duty hours as Trevor helps on the family farm, running over 80 beef cows on 150 acres in Republic, MO. Trevor instructs and mentors all students in the HorseSHOE I and II (Sheriff’s Horseman Outreach Education) classes. He’s our modern day John Wayne! Chelayne Sloss – A Springfield, MO native, Chelayne began her career with horses at age 13 as a volunteer at ChriShan Park Arabians. She worked from the bottom up as stall cleaner, groom then on to riding, training and showing Arabi- ans. In 2004, Chelayne won the U.S. National Arabian Champion English Pleasure Rider and Arabian Reserve National Champion English Driving. In 2005, she placed top ten in the United States in Arabian Country English Pleas- ure. Chelayne now has 6 horses of her own ranging from Quarter Horses, Ara- bians, Saddlebreds to Paso Finos. Chelayne is WWMP-EC’s primary instructor and teaches Monday through Friday from noon until 8 P.M. She teaches begin- ner and intermediate private and group lessons. Lauren Stansell— A native of Springfield, MO, Lauren Stansell has risen through the equestrian and leadership ranks of 4-H. She is a multiple award winner in 4-H (local and state), from the ―Back to School Blast‖ SoMo Sportsmanship Award to 4 years of Champion, Reserve and Hi-Point Championships in the equestrian games arena. Lauren worked for the Springfield Parks Department for 3 years as SPARC Recreation Leader. Lauren is currently enrolled at MSU with her field of study being Middle School Education with emphasis in Math and Science. Lauren understands that horse experiences and youth leadership development go hand in hand. At VWMP -EC, Lauren focuses on Pony Play Day Camps, Summer Camp Leader –Intermediate and group and private lessons throughout the week. Shannon Stewart – Hailing from Sierra Vista, AZ, Shannon has been riding since age 4. As a youth, she showed competitively in 4-H for 9 years. Continuing her show career in the open quarter horse circuit, Shannon won various western pleasure, hunter under saddle and jumper champion and reserve championships. Shannon has since focused on training horses and horse owners to communicate and build a better relationship. In 2008, she furthered her education and earned P.A.T.H. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. Co-founder of the Hero Hearts Equicenter Therapeutic Riding in 2008, Shannon went on to manage the Buffalo Corral Riding Stables in Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Shannon teaches group and private lessons every weekend at VWMP-EC. Amanda Ashworth —Amanda’s life long love of horses began when riding with her mother while still in diapers. She has ridden her entire life concentrating on trail and western pleasure riding. Juggling her career in restaurant management with the needs of a new family showed Amanda that she wanted to get back to something that she enjoyed. With her mothering skills and equestrian knowledge, Amanda’s instruction specialty at VWMP-EC are Pony Pal and My Little Pony classes, Pony Play Day Camps and assisting Horse SHOE I and II classes. Heidi Hamilton— Heidi brings a unique viewpoint to VWMP-EC with our youngest set of customers. Graduating from Hillcrest High School, Heidi was a substitute teacher and teachers aid at Christian Schools of Springfield for Pre-K and Kindergarten. Since her tenure at VWMP-EC Heidi has immersed herself in all things equestrian. Her special skills with the younger set makes her the perfect instructor for Pony Pal and My Little Pony classes. Heidi has singlehandedly taken on the responsibility for the training of the ponies in all of the programs. She coordinates the birthday parties activities and assists in Summer Camp-City Slickers as an instructor. Lynn VandenBerg—Originally from Baton Rouge, LA, Lynn’s horse show career has spanned over four decades. She began training horses at a young age when her parents bought a 5 year old ―dead broke‖ pony gelding at a garage sale that turned out to be a 2 year old unbroken stallion. Lynn has shown competitively at state, regional and national levels on home trained Quarter Horses—Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation and Arabians—Hunter under Saddle and Western Pleasure Amateur Owner to Ride. During college, she was co-captain of an 8 member bridle-less, saddle-less Arabian Drill Team and performed vaulting demonstrations at Arabian shows across the southwest. After graduating, Lynn began her career in Horse Racetrack Management at several notable facilities across the south including Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, LA, Remington Park in Oklahoma City, OK and Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, TX. Continuing her equestrian pursuits out of the boardroom, she competed in rated Hunter Jumper Shows, trained and conditioned field hunters for fox hunting, evented and exer- cised race horses. In between positions at the racetracks, Lynn managed a 40 stall Thor- oughbred and Quarter Horse breeding, foaling and sales prep farm. After moving to the Ozarks in 2000, Lynn has concentrated on training and showing her own horses in Dres- sage. At VWMP-EC, Lynn teaches advanced children and adults in all riding disciplines to apply logical methods in a kind way to build a better rider and communicator. .
