[ 23 ] PROCEDURES SCOPE OF WORK FOR PRECAST INSTALLER Method Statement of Precast Installation & Grouting Work

Precast Installation & Grouting Work Procedure – Precast Column

Prior to the commencement of precast column installation, column beam joint must get ready 01 then check the dowel bars position, level of the floor and mark the setting out of the column on the floor. Site Engineer/Supervisor shall inform unconformity with the design specification to Client’s Representative at site 2 days before the commencement of precast column installation work.

After the checking & rectification (if any), tie a rope to the precast column on the floor to 02 control its movement during hoisting process.

The required level of the bottom of column (BOC) is achieved by placing few stacks of plastic 03 shim plates on the column location. The height of the plastic shim plates is equivalent to the difference between BOC level and as-built floor level.

Crane is instructed by the sign men to park into the position where the location of precast 04 column to be installed is within working radius and hoisting capacity of the crane.

Crane will slowly tilts up the precast column until it is vertical and hoist it to the location where 05 precast column to be installed.

When the precast column reaches the install location, the workers will hold the precast column 06 into its correct position & orientation.

The signal men will instruct the crane slowly lower down the precast column to allow the dowel 07 bars to slot into the corrugated ducts in the precast column.

The precast column will finally seat on the plastic shim plates on the floor. The crane stops once 08 the precast column touch on the plastic shim plates.

The workers will adjust the precast column to match the setting out lines before the precast 09 column is allow to seat fully on the plastic shim plates.

[ 26 ] Precast Installation & Grouting Work Procedure – Hollow Core Slab/Plank

Prior to the commencement of hollow core slab (HCS) installation, check the spacing between 01 supports (precast beam) to make sure that it is sufficient for HCS to seat on.

02 The setting out of the HCS is measure and mark on the supports.

03 Neoprene strip must be laid on the top surface of the supports for the HCS to seat on.

04 A rope is tie to the lifting tool to control the movement of HCS during hoisting.

Crane is instructed by the signal men to park into the position where the location of the HCS to 05 be installed is within the crane working radius and Hoisting capacity.

The crane will pick up a HCS from the trailer/storage area by using a special lifting tool. The 06 lifting tool consists of a long I-beam with 2 clampers and attach to it at both ends with 2 short wire ropes. Each clamper will be equipped with a safety chain.

The workers on the trailer/storage area will put the clamper across the HCS at both ends and 07 that the key of the clamper must be fit into the horizontal groove on the side of HCS.

08 The signal men will instruct the crawler crane slowly hoist up the HCS.

The crane stops immediately when a gap appears underneath the HCS. The workers will install 09 the safety chain around the HCS and tie it back to the clampers.

10 The workers will stay away from the HCS when the crane starts to hoist it to the install location.

The crane will start to slow down when the HCS is approaching the install location so that the 11 workers can hold it to the correct orientation & position.

12 The safety chains are then removed from the HCS.

The signal men will instruct the crane to lower down the HCS. The crane stop immediately 13 when the HCS is touch on the neoprene strip on the supports.

14 The workers will check the seating of the HCS to ensure that it is comply with the specification.

The crane then will release the wire ropes to let the HCS fully seat on the supports. The 15 clampers will be removed.

[ 27 ] The shear key grouting start shortly after completion of HCS. The workers will patch the gap at 16 the bottom of shear key groove with dry mixed of shear key grout (mortar form).

When the mortar is set, the workers will the dampened shear key groove by spray water on the 17 side surface (vertical) of HCS. After the shear key groove is dampened, the shear key grout will be mixed with water at the 18 correct ratio by concrete mixer. The shear key grout will be poured into the shear key groove after complete the mixing process. The height of the shear key grout shall be 20-25mm below the top surface of HCS.

The top and bottom surface of HCS will be cleaned immediately after shear key grouting 19 complete.

20 The HCS Installation & Grouting Work complete.

Precast Installation & Grouting Work Procedure – Precast Wall

Prior to the commencement of precast 01 wall installation, check the starter bars position, level of the floor and mark the setting out of the wall on the floor.

Crane offload the precast wall from trailer 02 using 2 sets of 2-legged wire ropes and 4 nos of shackles tie to the 4 lifting points on the side surface of the precast wall.

The precast wall is offloading flat on the 03 ground with 2 rows of timbers placed in line with the lifting point underneath the precast wall.

Remove all the shackles and switch 1 04 set of 2-legged wire rope with 2 nos of shackles to the lifting point on the top of the precast wall.

Tie a string to one of the lifting point on 05 the side surface of the wall.

[ 29 ] Crane park into the position where the location of precast wall 06 to be installed is within the working radius and hoisting capacity of the crane.

Crane slowly tilt up the precast wall until it is vertical and hoist it 07 to the location where precast wall to be installed. The movement of the precast wall during the hoisting process can be controlled by the string.

When the precast wall reaches the install location, the workers 08 will hold the precast wall into its correct orientation and position.

The workers will instruct the crane slowly lower down the 09 precast wall to allow the starter bars to slot into the corrugated ducts in the precast wall.

The precast wall will finally rest on shim plates at both ends. 10 The required bottom level of precast wall is control by the shim plates. The crane stops once the precast wall rest on the shim plates.

2 - 4 nos of push-pull props will install to hold the precast wall 11 with 1 end fix to the wall and the other end fix to the floor. The verticality of the precast wall will check at both ends of the 12 wall by using theodolite.

Once the verticality check is done, crane will slowly lower down 13 the wire ropes. The verticality of the precast wall will check again before remove the wire ropes and shackles on top of the precast wall.

After remove the wire ropes and shackles, the workers will seal 14 the gap underneath the precast wall and grout it.

15 The method of wall grouting is similar as Column Grouting Work.
