Tom Rainey, faculty emeritus, at The Evergreen State College will present on Vladimir Putin. He will focus largely on the Russian leader’s foreign policy initiatives, and assess the achievements and portents for the dynamics of and dangers for global geopolitics.

Dietary decisions are likely the most impactful decision we make on a daily basis when it comes to our overall health. Please join Jeff to discuss simple dietary changes that can be made today which will help improve your health for the future. Jeff is the new district medical director at the Kaiser Permanente Olympia Medical Center.

BirdNote with Bob Sundstrom Wednesday, October 16 @ 10:15 am • Olympia Senior Center

Bob Sundstrom, lead writer for the public radio program BirdNote (www.birdnote.org), will play several BirdNote radio stories in the context of an informal chat about autumn birds and migration. There will be ample time for bird and nature questions and anecdotes. Bob would be happy to sign your copy of the BirdNote book available for purchase at any of our local book stores. Bob has led birding and nature tours for three decades to many parts of the world. He has served on the boards of nature and conservation organizations and on the State Bird Records Committee. He is co-author of The National Audubon Society Field Guide to the Pacific Northwest.

Journey to the Moon with Brad Gupta Wednesday, October 23 @ 10:15 am • Olympia Senior Center

Docent Brad Gupta will discuss an exhibit at the of Flight covering humankind’s first Journey to the Moon. Contents will include: space race, leading to the First Landing Mission, and celebrating the 50th anniversary of this historic flight in July 2019. Brad will discuss the contributions made by almost half a million Americans from all walks of life through videos and storytelling with special discussion of Pacific Northwest’s contributions to this monumental achievement.

Future of Space Exploration with Brad Gupta Wednesday, October 30 @ 10:15 am • Olympia Senior Center

Museum of Flight docent Brad Gupta will discuss exhibits at the Museum consisting of trainer, Space Ship one, model of Hubble Telescope and life on the International Space Station. He will then discuss the exciting Space 2.0 consisting of SpaceX reusable rockets, planned ARTEMIS and Gateway missions to Moon and Mars. The space tourism in work by Amazon founder ’s which is based in Pacific Northwest and Virgin Galactic.
