    U.S.-China Sanya Initiative Dialogue Report from the 10th Anniversary Meeting U.S. and Chinese delegates meet with Admiral Miao Hua of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China. he EastWest Institute (EWI) convened the 10th anniversary of the U.S.-China Sanya Initiative from October 27 to 29, 2018. The dialogue was made possible through the generous support Tof the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) and other private donors and was organized in close partnership with the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC). Retired American and Chinese senior flag officers and executives of the hosting organizations met in Beijing to discuss critical issues of mutual concern and interest impacting the U.S.-China military-to-military relationship, including North Korea, Taiwan, the South China Sea, emerging technologies, as well as other regional security challenges. The dialogue afforded timely opportunities for substantive exchanges prior to the November 9th meeting between U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Chinese Minister of Defense Wei Fenghe and State Councilor Yang Jiechi.     Why the Dell / EMC Combination Makes Sense for Customers Synergistic product portfolio and go-to-market strategies have potential to set IT customers up for success in the digital economy Executive Summary One of the biggest technology deals in history at over $60 billion is about to unfold as Dell prepares to buy EMC. At EMC World in May 2016, Michael Dell made this acquisition more real than ever when he announced the new entity’s name, Dell Technologies, which will be an umbrella brand for the collection of companies that will include enterprise and client solutions and services, and other strategic assets including VMware, Pivotal, RSA, Virtustream, and SecureWorks. With just a few major milestones to go, it appears that all is on track for the companies to merge the enterprise organizations as Dell EMC under the umbrella brand and to begin operating as one by around mid-year. Dell and EMC are positioning themselves as the path to the cloud for IT customers. Moor Insights & Strategy (MI&S) believes Dell’s leadership in compute and EMC’s leadership in storage and converged infrastructure have the potential to become building blocks for a one-stop shop for enterprise datacenter customers. Other assets such as security, virtualization software, and cloud solutions can help round out the portfolio. Moreover, Dell’s client computing business and IoT practices can bring insight into client computing and IoT models that will be key drivers for future datacenter requirements. Dell EMC should focus on continuing to build up their networking business and making it a more cohesive part of their end-to-end datacenter story.

VERIFIED CLASS ACTION COMPLAINT City of Roseville Employees’ Retirement System (“Plaintiff”), by and through its undersigned counsel, upon knowledge as to itself and upon information and belief as to all other matters, alleges as follows: NATURE OF THE ACTION 1. This action challenges Michael Dell’s attempt to take Dell, Inc. (“Dell” or the “Company”) private in a transaction (the “Going Private Transaction”) that offers Dell’s public shareholders an egregiously unfair price and threatens to foreclose them from sharing in any of the benefits to be obtained by the Company’s unfolding turnaround plan. The Going Private Transaction offers Dell’s public shareholders $13.65 per share – a price so patently unfair that it prompted one shareholder to question whether company insiders are “trying to steal the company because of current market conditions.” The $13.65 per share purchase price is approximately 3% less than the price at which the stock was trading just days prior to the Transaction’s announcement, represents only a 25% premium over the stock’s trading price before news of a potential transaction was reported, and amounts to a 34% discount from the prices at which Dell was trading a year ago.

Over the years, poverty alleviation, private sector development and security have been dominant focus areas of Dutch development cooperation, with PSD taking a central role as it was assumed that poverty could only be alleviated when a country’s economy is stimulated. Therefore, the Dutch government has been strongly supporting policies and initiatives stimulating PSD in the Netherlands and in developing countries. The long history of Dutch development cooperation shows continuity in its approach towards development policy as a way of promoting Dutch businesses and export in developing countries. Introduction This paper reviews Dutch development cooperation policies for the years 1949-2015 with particular attention for private sector development (PSD). Moreover, this appraisal examines a potential role for Dutch development policies in creating an enabling environment for the ‘home’ (Dutch) and ‘host’ (recipient) private sector to generate (productive) employment. Since the end of the Second World War, the Netherlands has been an active supporter of international development aid.

Firestein and Ronald Kirk. delegation of senior officials from the Communist Party of China (CPC) met with U.S. Democratic and Republican Party leaders and global business leaders in Washington, D.C. on November 14, A 2016. These discussions were part of the U.S.-China High-Level Political Party Leaders Dialogue organized by the EastWest Institute (EWI) in partnership with the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) and was the ninth round of this dialogue process. The CPC delegation was led by Guo Yezhou, vice minister of the IDCPC and council chairman of IDCPC’s in-house think tank, the China Center for Contemporary World Studies. Ronald Kirk, former United States trade representative and a former Dallas mayor, and Tom Ridge, first secretary of the Office of Homeland Security and former governor of Pennsylvania, led the U.S. Democratic and Republican delegations, which also included sitting party officers from both parties’ national committees. The propitious timing of the dialogue facilitated candid exchange and valuable insights into the outcome and future implications of the November 8, 2016 U.S. elections, prospective governing priorities of the Trump administration and the outcomes of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee. Hier komt de wetgeving vandaan waaraan in de vijftien lidstaten van de Europese Unie niets meer kan worden veranderd. Dat is wennen voor de nationale hoofdsteden en regeringscentra als het Binnenhof in Den Haag.
