How to Participate in Ontario's Long-Term Housing Strategy How to Participate in the Development of Ontario’s Long-Term Affordable Housing Strategy The Ontario government is inviting residents, housing partners and other stakeholders to take part in the development of its long-term affordable housing strategy for Ontario. The strategy will be the first of its kind in Ontario and offers an important opportunity to create a bold new plan to ensure stable and affordable housing for all Ontarians. Ways to Have Your Say: There are a variety of ways to have your say between now and December 31, 2009. c Attend a consultation session and express your views in person. A consultation will take place in Scarborough on: July 21 - 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sts Peter and Paul Ukrainian Community Homes 221 Milner Ave (see map on back) Two consultations will take place in downtown Toronto on: July 22 – 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fellowship Towers Retirement Community 877 Yonge Street (just north of Bloor Street) (see map on back) Be sure to register at: ontario.ca/housingstrategy (click on “Consultation Sessions” → “Register” → “Scarborough” or “Toronto” for the downtown sessions and fill out the online form or call 416-585-6377 or TTY 1-866-220-2290 to register, for more information or for accommodation related to a disability) d Contact your MPP to ask when they will be holding their local consultation. The provincial government is encouraging MPPs from all political parties to hold their own consultations with local residents to provide input into the plan.     APPENDIX B CBSC Decision 11/12-1881 & -1942 CFRB-AM re comments made on The City with Mayor Rob Ford The Complaints The CBSC received a total of 64 complaints about this broadcast. Of those, 36 were provided with the opportunity to request a ruling (the remaining 28 either did not provide enough information to order copies of the broadcast or the complainants clearly had not actually heard the broadcast themselves). Of the 36 complainants who were given the opportunity to request a ruling, only 2 did so. Their complaints are reproduced here: File 11/12-1881 The CBSC received the following complaint on May 7, 2012: I am writing to complain about blatantly offensive language and comments used during Sunday, May 6th’s broadcast of The City with Mayor Rob Ford on CFRB 1010 of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, airing between 1PM and 3PM Eastern Standard Time. During this broadcast, Mayor Ford and his guests made several remarks that were quite offensive: - When referring to Daniel Dale, a Toronto Star reporter that Ford had recently had a run-in with, they said, “I’ve been told the Star purposely assigned their most effeminate reporter". - When referring to former mayoral front-runner George Smitherman, Menzies (the guest on the show), made a disgusting comment about his sexual orientation and linked this to HIV/AIDS: “Could you imagine if I was at that all-candidates meeting and I went to George Smitherman and I said, ‘You know what, George, being a practicing homosexual and the fact that you’ve been involved with all kinds of illicit drug use, how do we know you won’t engage in high-risk sex and drug use that will bring about HIV-leading-to-AIDS and you’ll die in office?’ I would be run out of town on a rail!” This type of behaviour is contrary to section VI, subsections 2, 3 and 4 of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters’ Equitable Portrayal Code, of which CFRB 1010 is bound to uphold as a member of the CBSC.

Even as electricity demand - and market prices - dropped last year with the global economic downturn , electricity bills have risen steadily on the back of generous contracts signed by the province's power planning agency. Now, the government of Premier Dalton McGuinty is preparing for a looming political backlash. What's at stake is an industrial strategy that's on a collision course with a century- old policy of delivering electricity to consumers at the lowest possible cost. After the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs in the manufacturing heartland, Mr. McGuinty vowed to create more than 50,000 new ones through the Green Energy Act. But he is building this new sector - and burnishing his green credentials - by ratcheting up electricity costs. The average market price for electricity in Ontario is at its lowest level since the market was opened up in 2002. It was 3.3 cents a kilowatt hour yesterday, compared with a record high average of 9.97 cents in September, 2005. But customers are not reaping the benefits of lower prices because the government is recovering the cost of new projects from power users. The government is luring green-energy investors with the promise of generous long- term contracts that include a guaranteed revenue stream.
