Match Report Dammit Dammit Dammit! Nobody can predict what would have happened if the game had continued, but I reckon a required of just 8 an over may have been a big ask of the visitors with 13 overs to go - I for one put Isis in the box seat. Instead, 10 minutes of persistent heavy rain, no obvious break in the heavy clouds that were rolling overhead and poor light made it an easy decision - match abandoned! There was certainly not too much disappointment on the Greys Green faces when the captains made that call . What a shame, because in the first Isis has done really well to set a competitive total against a good attack, and in the second innings Isis had bowled well to restrict the scoring against competent batsmen. Feature performances for Isis came from Luke Blatchford (54) at the top of the order, who matched solid defence with good shot-making and excellent running, and from Jon Ponsford (52) who showed aggression and timing to accelerate the Isis score and set a difficult target, supported by Alf Symons (21) in an important supporting role. Those two combined well with the ball against the Greys Green reply, both returning great economy to put the visitors in a catch-up situation, although their batsmen were certainly no mugs. When the bowling changes were made, Brad Harden successfully took a brace while Alex Beavan and Paul Jacobs combined well for an excellent run out when the visitors started to chase. At the other end, Nick Wyatt used wile and guile to pitch in good areas and vary his pace and was unlucky to see a couple of chances go down. Just before the rain, Dom Henry went for a couple of boundaries before taking the fourth but we didn’t get to see if the visitor’s tail would wag. A real pity, as this was a great competition amongst well matched teams played with spirit, and it could have gone to the wire. My money was on an Isis win, but sadly on this occasion it wasn’t to be.
