She completed her law degree in 1995 and has been a Member of the German Bundestag since 1998. Among other positions, she has served as Member of the Bundestag’s Council of Elders and as Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance. Markus Hartung Lawyer and mediator, Berlin Markus Hartung is a lawyer, mediator and founder of the Bucerius Center on the Legal Profession (CLP) at Bucerius Law School, Hamburg. He is member of the Committee on Professional Regulation of the German Bar Association, chairing the Committee from 2011 to 2019, and is Co-Founder of ELTA – The European Legal Technology Association. Markus Hartung is a regular lecturer and conference-speaker on leadership, management topics and professional ethics. He is the author of several books of technical literature which are considered a standard reference for the German legal market. Didier Reynders Commissioner for Justice and Consumers Didier Reynders has been European Commissioner for Justice and Consumers since 2019. He previously served as Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, and of Defence. Didier Reynders studied law at the University of Liège and is a lecturer / visiting professor in Liège, Louvain and Bruxelles. He first became a member of Parliament in 1992 and has since headed various government departments and ministries (including the Ministries of Finance and Foreign affairs). 1 Francisca van Dunem Minister of Justice, Portugal From 2007–2015 Francisca Van Dunem served as Lisbon’s Deputy Prosecutor General before leaving this position to be appointed member of the Portuguese Government as Minister of Justice. She previously held the position of Deputy Attorney General and Director of the Department of Investigation and Penal Action of Lisbon. She has repre- sented the Superior Council of the Public Prosecutor in the Mission Unity for Criminal Reform. She has also represented Portugal in several meetings and expertise committees of international organisations, namely the European Committee for Criminal Problems, the Council of Europe, and the European Observatory for Racism of the European Union. She is a former member of the Superior Council of the Public Prosecutor. Lilijana Kozlovič Minister of Justice, Slovenia Lilijana Kozlovič was appointed Minister of Justice of Slovenia in March 2020. In December 2019, she was appointed Director-General of the Slovenian Environment Agency. Between 2016 and 2018, she held the position of Secretary-General of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, after which she worked as an advisor for the Advocate of the Principle of Equality. In 2005, she was appointed head of the Koper Administrative Unit. She stayed on until being elected as deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia in 2014. Lilijana Kozlovič holds an undergraduate degree and master's degree in law. Sander Dekker Minister for Legal Protection, The Netherlands Sander Dekker has been Minister for Legal Protection since October 2017. He previously served as State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science from November 2012. Sander Dekker conducted research on the police and criminal justice system. He went on to work for the COT Institute for Safety, Security and Crisis Management, which initiates and provides research studies, courses and training in disaster response and large-scale police operations. After graduating, Mr Dekker conducted research and taught public administration at Leiden University. In 2001 he was an associated visiting researcher at Oxford University’s Centre for European Politics, Economics and Society. 2 Emmanuel Crabit Director, Fundamental Rights and Rule of Law, DG Justice and Consumers, European Commission Emmanuel Crabit is director of the directorate “Fundamental rights and rule of law”. Previously, he was head of the unit for “Fundamental rights and rights of the child”, and then for “Justice policy and rule of law” in the European Commission’s DG for Justice and Consumers. Before working for DG Justice and Consumers, Emmanuel Crabit wor- ked in the Internal Market and Services Directorate General and, inter alia, dealt with Commission initiatives in the field of data protection, media pluralism, e-commerce and services. Emmanuel Crabit holds a PhD in public law and was senior lecturer in public law before joining the European Commission. Edith Kindermann President of the German Bar Association (DAV) Edith Kindermann is President of the German Bar Association (DAV) and a lawyer specialising in family law. Since 2007, she has worked as a notary with a focus on attorney liability law, professional law, fee law and family law. Within the German Bar Association, she also serves as chair of the Committee on the Act on the Remuneration of Lawyers and Court Costs and is a member of the Insurance Law Committee. Alisha Andert Chairwoman of the German Legal Tech Association After studying law at the University of Potsdam, Alisha Andert obtained a master’s degree in European Private Law at the University of Amsterdam and later completed the Design Thinking programme at the Hasso Plattner Institute. She first worked at Flight- right as Head of Legal Innovation. Since October 2019, she has held this same position at Chevalier. In August 2018 she co-founded the innovative consulting agency “This is Legal Design”. Alisha Andert is Chairwoman of the German Legal Tech Association (Legal Tech Verband Deutschland e. V.). 3 Jeanne Daleau Acting Head of the project group PORTALIS, Ministry of Justice, France Jeanne Daleau is Acting Head of the project group PORTALIS run by the Ministry of Justice in France. The main focus of PORTALIS is the digitalization of the French justice system in the area of civil courts. As a former judge of a guardianship court, Jeanne Dealau has been working for the French Ministry of Justice since 2017. Johannes Christoph Laitenberger Judge at the General Court Johannes Christoph Laitenberger has been a Judge at the General Court since September 2019 and has previously held the positions of Spokesman and Head of the Spokesper- son’s Service of the European Commission (2005–2009), Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Commission (2009–2014), Deputy Director-General of the Legal Service of the European Commission (2014–2015) and most recently as Director-General of the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission (2015–2019). Michael O’Flaherty Director of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights Professor Michael O’Flaherty is the Director of the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA). From September 2011 until October 2013 he took up appointment as the third Chief Commissioner of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission (NIHRC), the statutory national human rights institution for Northern Ireland. Michael O’Flaherty is a qualified solicitor in Ireland. Since completing his postgraduate studies he has worked mainly in the field of international human rights. From 2004 to 2012 he was Professor of Applied Human Rights and Co-Director of the Human Rights Law Centre at the University of Nottingham, England. In December 2012 he was appointed as Established Professor of Human Rights at the National University of Ireland, Galway and Director of the Irish Centre for Human Rights. 4 Prof. Dr. Katharina Zweig Professor for Theoretical Computer Science, Head of the Algorithm Accountability Lab, TU Kaiserslautern Katharina Zweig is a professor for Theoretical Computer Science at the University of Kaiserslautern. She is also head of the “Algorithm Accountability Lab”, a research group that is working on questions about measuring the quality and fairness of algorithmic decision systems, black box methods for monitoring these systems, theoretical questions about the robustness of machine learning methods and how to regulate algorithmic decision systems. Katharina Zweig was awarded the Ars legendi Faculty Prize in Engineering and Compu- ter Science for the design of the unique course of studies in socioinformatics. She is a member of the Enquete Commission of Artificial Intelligence (2018–2020), of the ITA advisory board of the BMBF (since 2014), of the Plattform Lernende Systeme (AG3, UG Ethics and Law) and stands for carrying research into society. Dory Reiling Independent IT and judicial reform expert, Retired Senior Judge, Amsterdam District Court Dory Reiling Ph. D. Mag. Iur. is a retired senior judge at the Amsterdam District Court. She was involved in designing the digital procedures in the civil courts in the Netherlands. She was a senior judicial reform specialist at the World Bank and IT program manager for the Netherlands judiciary. She regularly lectures on court IT at universities, judicial academies and postgraduate schools and works as an IT adviser to judiciaries around the world. She is also a co-author of the World Bank Handbook on Justice Sector Assessments. She was the expert for the Consultative Council of European Judges (Council of Europe) on information technologies and the courts. 5 Dr. Felix Steffek University Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge and Senior Member & Director of Studies, Newnham College Felix Steffek is a University Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Cambridge and a Senior Member of Newnham College. He serves as Director of the Centre for Corporate and Commercial Law (3CL) and Director of Studies for undergra- duate and graduate students. His research interests cover corporate law, insolvency law, commercial law, dispute resolution law and technology & law. Felix Steffek is a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Corporate Law Studies, the Cambridge Yearbook of European Legal Studies and other academic journals. He is a Member of the Education Taskforce of the UK LawTech Delivery Panel.
