    Wootton Rivers Parish Council Minutes of The Parish Meeting & Annual Meeting of the Parish Council held on 13th May 2019 THE PARISH MEETING The Parish Meeting was Chaired by the outgoing Chair of the Parish Council, Cindy Creasy who welcomed everyone to the meeting and presented her report on the Parish Council’s activities over the past year. Last year I ended my annual report for the Parish Council with some thank you’s. This year I would like to start with them as it really is the many wonderful residents in our community that make living here such a privilege. So many people give up their time to help maintain and create spaces and activities that the community and visitors enjoy. I would like to thank Linda Hopkins and her team who, over many years, have persevered and succeeded in providing us with a welcoming, well stocked and well used Village Hall. Home to a range of activities, events and fund raising extravaganzas….who can forget Singalong a Grease night! Linda is also to be thanked for her editorship of the village Contact newsletter, keeping us informed of news and events. With a copy delivered through every door, I know that many people appreciate this form of communication in a digital age! Also, our continuing thanks to Tony McGarry for his sterling work at the recreation ground. It’s looking great and is in almost constant use, particularly by younger people in the village. Tony ensures that the facilities are kept updated, with new cricket nets and spring cleans and remains vigilant in the face of unwelcome visits from some friendly moles!     Minor changes to the times of bus services 101, 102 and 103 in the Pewsey and Devizes area starting on 5 February 2018 Following feedback received about the changes that we made to the Pewsey Vale bus services last summer, we will be making a few minor timetable adjustments from 5 February. The changes mainly affect buses before 9am, which will now depart approximately 5 minutes earlier to ensure that school children and commuters get into Devizes and Pewsey on time. However some other times have also been amended and in a few cases you may now need to book in advance, so please check the timetables in this leaflet carefully. Do I need to book ? If you are boarding the bus at Devizes Market Place or at Pewsey Co-op, or at any point in the villages where a time is shown in the timetable, you do not need to book a seat through the call centre as the bus will always call at those bus stops. However if you need to board a bus at a village where there is a symbol in the timetable instead of a time, then you will need to ring the call centre to ensure that the bus goes that way to pick you up. Our new call centre number is 01722 326 154 and the booking line is open between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on weekdays and between 8.30 am and 1 pm on Saturdays. Please note that if you wish to travel before 10am, we recommend that you book your seat on the previous working day, as the call centre is often at its busiest first thing in the morning.

Declarations of Interest and the granting of dispensations. Councillors were reminded of the Code for Conduct and the need to declare any interest relating to the items on the Agenda. None were declared. 2. Agreement of Minutes The Draft Minutes of the Parish Council Meetings held on the 11th January, 25th January and 2nd March 2021 were agreed as a true record and will be signed by Cindy Creasy, Chair. Cindy thanked Rob Mitchenall for the excellent job he had done while standing in as clerk for the last meeting. 3. Matters Arising from the Minutes Steve Rawlings agreed to provide the plywood for the new backboards for the village map signs and notice boards. Action: Steve Rawlings Cindy Creasy reported that the cost of having a tourist information board would be £200-300 and it was agreed in principle that this cost would be acceptable. Cindy would consult with Anne and Dean to establish if there was sufficient content to go on a board as the Royal Oak already has one and the Church are also planning one.

Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Britain To members of Meeting for Sufferings 9 November 2018 Dear Friends, We are looking forward to our first residential meeting which will be at Woodbrooke in Birmingham from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th November. We hope that we will have a good time of fellowship one with another and of listening to the guidance of the Spirit. We know that we will be sharing information and growing in our understanding of our faith and the action to which it leads, and, at this meeting in particular, we look for a greater understanding and sharing of how we work together so that we may joyfully step forward. We hope we will become drawn together, united in recognising and owning the direction in which we are travelling, following the Inner Guide. The agenda is attached but if you are able to arrive in the afternoon there will be a learning session at 4.30 with Woodbrooke tutors on ‘Doing Quaker business in a large meeting’. If you have not yet registered to attend this and would like to please contact Graham Spackman on [email protected] I hope you will be able to arrive in time for supper – we will gather in the Cadbury Room (at 5.45) before going into the meal in our home groups. In the Friday evening session we will gather and deal with necessary business. On Saturday morning we will have a chance to engage with representatives from all the central committees – we have received their reports to us and hope that they will share with us the way in which their committee’s work has strengthened the life of Quakers in Britain and what work has been taken up or laid down and what challenges lie ahead for them.
