With the ships it is possible the “unaccompanied system” which, through the embarkment of the single trailer, optimise the logistic use of the tractors, allowing better efficiency and reducing transport costs. Speed and punctualiy By embarking onboard the ships, all trucks avoid the traffic and the long motorways queues, reducing transit time. All units can also travel during national holidays, in summer time, and during road restrictions for work in progress and road maintenance. With an average speed between 22 and 28 knots, the ships assure full respect of delivery time at discharging destinations. Driver safety All driver can rest during the trip and arrive at destination with the digital tacograph at “zero”, in full accordance with driving rules. Moreover, travelling on the ships, truck drivers avoid to be victims of thefts or aggressions during their drive-breaks. Cargo safety During navigation all trucks and cargo are kept under video-surveillance 24 hours per day. Port terminals are directly managed from Grimaldi Lines personnel and fully equipped with entrance / exit video - control systems. Travel with the Long Bridge! Barcelona After the entrance of the Greek company Minoan Lines in the Grimaldi Group, it is now possible to move from Spain and Portugal directly to the Igoumenitza Balkans area thanks to the “Long Bridge” system, which allows transport Patras companies to make one booking and to pay only one reduced tariff for two maritime passages: Barcelona-Livorno and Ancona-Igoumenitsa / Patras. Leaving from Barcelona, the trucks arriving at Livorno will follow their route to Ancona where they will depart to Greece onboard Minoan Lines vessels. • The Holy See
The Holy See PASTORAL VISIT TO CAGLIARI MEETING WITH WORKERS ADDRESS OF HOLY FATHER FRANCIS Largo Carlo Felice, Cagliari Sunday, 22 September 2013 Dear Brothers and Sisters, Good morning! I greet you all cordially: workers, business people, authorities, the families present and, in particular, Archbishop Arrigo Miglio, and the three of you who have told us about your problems, about your expectations and also about your inspirations. With this visit — as I said — I am starting with you, who make up the world of work. With this meeting I want above all to express my closeness to you, especially to the situations of suffering: to the many young people out of work, to people on unemployment benefits, or on a temporary basis, to business and tradespeople who find it hard to keep going. I am very familiar with this situation because of my experience in Argentina. I myself was spared it but my family wasn’t. My father went to Argentina as a young man full of illusions “of making it in America”. And he suffered in the dreadful recession of the 1930s. They lost everything! There was no work! And in my childhood I heard talk of this period at home.... I never saw it, I had not yet been born, but I heard about this suffering at home, I heard talk of it. I know it well! However, I must say to you: “Courage!”. Nevertheless I am also aware that for own my part I must do everything to ensure that this term “courage” is not a beautiful word spoken in passing! May it not be merely the smile of a courteous employee, a Church employee who comes and says “be brave!” No! I don’t want this! I want courage to come from within me and to impel me to do everything as a pastor, as a man.

SAFETY AND OPERATION - Crete, October 2001 WELCOME - INTRODUCTION It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to the International Maritime Research and Technology multi-conference organised by the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. Following the successful organisation of the 3rd International Stability Workshop on "Contemporary problems of ship stability and operational safety" in 1997 in Crete, a number of prominent colleagues dealing with maritime R&D in Europe and overseas asked NTUA to consider hosting again a series of conferences and meeting events at the beautiful island of Crete. The response was, of course, positive despite of the anticipation of organisational problems related to the uniqueness of this multi- conference. I am very pleased to see you all here, especially those of you who have come from overseas. We are expecting over the next few days close to 200 colleagues and friends from all over Europe, USA and Japan, a clear indication of high expectations and of interesting days ahead. We count among the participants not only internationally recognised experts but also more than 20 young researchers of European academic and industrial institutions thanks to the support of the TMR programme of the European Commission.

Boats Built at Toledo, Ohio Including Monroe, Michigan A Comprehensive Listing of the Vessels Built from Schooners to Steamers from 1810 to the Present Written and Compiled by: Matthew J. Weisman and Paula Shorf National Museum of the Great Lakes 1701 Front Street, Toledo, Ohio 43605 Welcome, The Great Lakes are not only the most important natural resource in the world, they represent thousands of years of history. The lakes have dramatically impacted the social, economic and political history of the North American continent. The National Museum of the Great Lakes tells the incredible story of our Great Lakes through over 300 genuine artifacts, a number of powerful audiovisual displays and 40 hands-on interactive exhibits including the Col. James M. Schoonmaker Museum Ship. The tales told here span hundreds of years, from the fur traders in the 1600s to the Underground Railroad operators in the 1800s, the rum runners in the 1900s, to the sailors on the thousand-footers sailing today. The theme of the Great Lakes as a Powerful Force runs through all of these stories and will create a lifelong interest in all who visit from 5 – 95 years old. Toledo and the surrounding area are full of early American History and great places to visit. The Battle of Fallen Timbers, the War of 1812, Fort Meigs and the early shipbuilding cities of Perrysburg and Maumee promise to please those who have an interest in local history. A visit to the world-class Toledo Art Museum, the fine dining along the river, with brew pubs and the world famous Tony Packo’s restaurant, will make for a great visit.
