BLUE JACKETS NOTES CBJ’S START The Blue Jackets have won 27 of their first 52 contests (27-21-4) this season with Columbus averaging 3.33 goals per game and 1.59 goals against in their 27 victories (including SO goals) and has allowed two goals or less in 22 of those contests, including 16 of the last 18 wins. The 27 wins and 58 points in the opening 52 games are the second most in a season in club history (34-13-5, 73 points in 2016-17).

TOUGH METRO TEST The Jackets finished up a series of six-straight games against Western Conference opponents from Jan. 12-Feb. 2 against the Sharks last Friday in Columbus (2-3-1). The focus is now on division play as the club plays five-straight games against the Metro Division (Feb. 3-13) and 10-of-12 contests from Feb. 3-26. The lone two games outside the division during that stretch are at Toronto (Feb. 14) and vs. Chicago (Feb. 24). This week, the Jackets play three games against the top two teams in the division (Washington, New Jersey).

UNTIL THE END Columbus has fared well when games have been close this season, boasting a 16-4-4 record in one-goal contests. The 16 victories are first-T in the NHL (Vegas) while the .667 win percentage is second best (Tampa; .684). The club has won five of its last seven one-goal games (in past 12 contests played) and 11 of the Jackets’ past 17 contests have been decided by a single goal (6-2-3 in the one-goal games).

POWERING UP The Blue Jackets power play has found success of late, scoring goals in six of the last ten games. The 30.4 PP pct. (7-of-23) since Jan. 7 ranks fifth in the NHL. The club is 14-of-65 (21.5 pct.) on the man advantage over the past 24 contests (13th in NHL since Dec. 8).

CAM’S BACK After missing 11 games due to a broken foot, Cam Atkinson has made his presence felt since returning to the lineup on January 25th at Arizona. He scored his seventh goal of the season in his return and followed up with assists in two-straight games vs. Minnesota and San Jose and a goal on Saturday at the NY Islanders. The Riverside, Connecticut native is riding a four-game point streak since his return, averaging 18:59 TOI during that span.

JONES ALL STAR SEASON Seth Jones leads CBJ blueliners in assists and points (8-25-33), ranking 10th-T among NHL defensemen in scoring. Since December 1, he ranks fifth among NHL blueliners in points with 5-16-21 in 27 contests. The Arlington, Texas native, who was selected to play in his second-straight NHL All-Star Game but missed it due to illness, has posted points in seven of his last 10 games (1-8-9). Including a career-best six-game point streak (3-4-7) from Dec. 20-29, he has collected 5-13-18 in his last 21 contests.

WERENSKI’S ALL STAR DEBUT Named to the NHL All Star Game in Jones’ absence, Zach Werenski made his NHL All-Star debut on Jan. 28. He tallied an assist for the Metro Division in a 7-4 loss to the Atlantic Division in the semifinals. The Grosse Pointe, Michigan native leads CBJ blueliners in goals and ranks second in points with 11-11-22. His 11 goals are second among NHL defensemen (13, Nashville’s P.K. Subban), one shy from tying the franchise single season record for goals by a blueliner (Bryan Berard, 2005-06; Jones, 2016-17).

POINT GETTERS The Blue Jackets’ trio of Panarin, Dubois and Josh Anderson have combined for 61 points over the last 31 games (24-37-61).
