TOP FIVE CAPS FACTS What a Start - With a two goal performance against the Toronto Maple Leafs, John Carlson recorded his 22nd and 23rd points of the season (7g, 16a) to establish a franchise record for the most points by a defenseman in any calendar month, eclipsing the previous high of 22 set by Sergei Gonchar in January 2000 (10g, 12a in 14 games). Only one blueliner in NHL history has recorded more points than Carlson in a single month of October: Calgary’s Al MacInnis in 1990 (8g, 17a, 25 points in 13 games).

12th and Counting for Gr8 - Alex Ovechkin recorded two goals against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 29, marking his 668th and 669th career regular-season goals to pass Luc Robitaille (668) for the most in League history among players listed as a left wing and for 12th place on the NHL's all-time list overall.

• OT Ovi - Ovechkin’s second goal was his NHL-record 23rd career regular-season goal. He collected his 35th career regular-season overtime point (23g, 12a) to tie Jaromir Jagr (19g, 16a) for second place on the NHL's all-time list, trailing Patrik Elias (16g, 21a).

• Multi-Ovi - Ovechkin recorded his 135th career multi-goal game in the regular season to match Mike Gartner for the seventh-most in NHL history, four back of Marcel Dionne (139) for sixth place. Since entering the NHL 2005-06, Ovechkin's 135 multi-goal games are 51 more than second place 's (84), and only nine active players have more than 50. Ovechkin also added two assists against Toronto, marking his 27th career four point game.

Since 2014-15, Holtby's 202 wins rank first in the NHL (17 wins ahead of Nashville's ). In 14 career games against Buffalo, Holtby is 9-4-1 with one shutout, with a 2.60 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. Holtby is entering tonight's contest just one shutout shy of passing Olie Kolzig (35) for the most career shutouts in franchise history.

Swede Nick - With three assists against Toronto, Nicklas Backstrom (233g, 652a, 885 points) tied Peter Forsberg (249g, 636a) for the seventh-most points in NHL history by a Swedish-born player. Eller's 120 career goals rank second among Danish players.
