It’s exciting to see all the work go into action.” says Todd. “Balancing the motocross and downhill mountain bike athletes I train, PerformX Motocross Race Team and PerformX Young Guns Downhill Team, and various schools and camps in both motocross and downhill mountain biking, can often be a challenge. But one I wouldn’t change for the world! Eight male elite BMX riders volunteered for the study. Each rider performed three, 10 second maximal sprints on an Olympic standard indoor BMX track. The riders’ bicycles were fitted with a portable SRM power meter. Each rider performed the three sprints using gear ratios of 41/16, 43/16, 45/16 tooth. The results from the 41/16 and 45/16 gear ratios were compared to the current standard 43/16 gear ratio. Statistically significant differences were found between the gear ratios for peak power (F(2,14) = 6.448; p = 0.010) and peak torque (F(2,14) = 4.777; p = 0.026), but no significant difference was found for time to peak power (F (2,14) = 0.200; p = 0.821).

The theoretical framework of this paper is based on the concepts which position motorsport in a context of sustainability at both global and team levels within the borders of systems theory. Training and racing activities of the MXStar team based in Uppsala (Sweden) are described in the paper from the environmental perspective. Changing of the team’s technical performance as well as their behavioural models has certain driving and restraining forces that are analyzed in particular in the discussion part of the paper. Recommendations for the MXStar team have been developed in accordance with the results of detailed analysis of the team’s environmental impact. The authors concluded that environmental performance of motocross racing composes from technical and behavioural inputs of each participating team.     2017 RULES FOR PROFESSIONAL MOTOCROSS COMPETITION Introduction This book contains the rules and technical requirements governing all events that make up the AMA Pro Racing Motocross Championship, and is designed to provide the necessary information to assist licensed riders in the preparation of motorcycles for motocross competitions sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. As a general rule, unless optional equipment or modification is specifically permitted by this Rulebook, it is prohibited. The intent of a specific rule will override a competitor’s interpretation of that rule. The intent of a rule will be determined by AMA Pro Racing officials. If any equipment rule is unclear to the competitor, the competitor is advised to obtain written approval prior to making any modifications. Requests for rule clarifications or interpretations must be submitted in writing by riders and teams to AMA Pro Racing technical staff. Any prior verbal approval from AMA Pro Racing staff or officials without a written statement from the Technical Department with regard to the interpretation of a rule or procedure will be deemed invalid. While every effort has been made to write these rules in a clear and unambiguous fashion, it is impossible to anticipate every circumstance. It will be the Race Director’s responsibility to make decisions regarding rule enforcement. Stewart is starting his third full season with the squad. Both riders are slated to race the potent Suzuki RM-Z450 in AMA Supercross and Motocross.
