GPS Navigation. Classic or Cutting edge ? For the 3rd year in a row, ARCHOS has equipped its flagship device with an optional GPS Navigation solution. But it’s a completely new experience. For starters, the GPS is built directly into the device. This means that you don’t need to be tied to a windshield. You can use it in pedestrian or adventure mode. There are also numerous 3D landmarks, which transform the journey you are taking into a whole new experience. But there’s more to it with the 3D Photorealistic views of cities. It’s a fantastic way to discover a city while driving or walking through it. You’ll see the city just as if you were flying over it. With this ARCHOS 5 internet tablet, discover what GPS truly means. WiFi Connectivity With your ARCHOS, you want to connect to the Internet wherever you are. You’ll appreciate the easy on-time WiFi setup, even at new WiFi hot spots. The ARCHOS 5 Internet Tablet scans the available networks faster, connects faster, and maintains connections to the network even in weak signal conditions thanks to the latest WiFi-N technology. 3G Connectivity via Bluetooth™ If you want to connect to the Internet truly anywhere, the built-in Bluetooth™ capabilities of the ARCHOS will allow you to pair up with most all 3G Bluetooth™ enabled telephones thus allowing you to use your phone and its data plan for fast access1. The ARCHOS 5 Internet Tablet supports the standard Bluetooth™ profiles DUN (Dial- up Networking) and PAN (Personal Area Network) and automatically detects the profile of the phone selected. There’s no need to pay an extra fee when you already have a data service plan*. Tethering (Using your portable phone as a modem) The term “3G tethering” is the idea of using your portable telephone’s data service as a way to connect to the Internet for your laptop, or in this case, your ARCHOS 5 Internet tablet. The first thing you have to do is introduce your ARCHOS to your phone. Kind of like, “Hello telephone, I’m an ARCHOS, nice to meet you.” Then the phone says, “Hi ARCHOS, nice to know you.” They do this over a wireless Bluetooth™ connection. Once the telephone is properly introduced to the ARCHOS, they are considered ‘Paired’. This means that now when you want to connect to the Internet, your ARCHOS can say, “Hey phone, connect me to the Internet”, and good old Phone will make a connection. Pairing 1. On your phone, turn on Bluetooth ‘detectable.’ 2. On the ARCHOS, select Menu > settings > Wireless controls > Bluetooth settings > Bluetooth and turn it on. 3. Still on the ARCHOS, select Scan for devices, then select your telephone which will be shown under “Bluetooth devices”.
