    TENUTA WWW.ARRIGONI1913.IT "Sciacchetrà Riserva" - CinqueTerre D.o.c The Cinque Terre Sciacchetrà is amongst the rarest Italian wine and it is one of the best known. The ancient Romans produced it, Boccaccio speaks of it in his writings and Pope Paul III defined it as a “smoky wine of great aroma, with the colour of gold, agreeable but not sweet, not to be consumed during the course of a full meal; a nutritious wine especially for the elderly”. It is obtained by allowing the best grapes of the Cinque Terre area to wither over a long period of time. After fermentation it is matured and refined in high quality small wooden casks for at least one year. We mature and refine our Sciacchetrà for at least two or three years, depending on the singular characteristics of each harvest. In the local dialeet, the word “schiacchetrà” means “press it and forget about it for a long while”. This is the wine for grand occasions, very important festivities and anniversaries. CLASSIFICATION: Cinque Terre Sciacchetrà DOC GRAPES: Mainly Bosco; some Albarola and Vermentino COLOUR & BOUQUET: Golden yellow with amber hues. Intense aroma of sweet dessert wine with the scent of mountain flowers and flavour of honey. It is a gentle wine, pleasant and harmonious, with sweet residues. MEAL SUGGESTIONS: Ideal dessert wine. The trend toward an increasing warming of the temperature is determining new ripening dynamics of grape berries that often lead to excessive sugar accumulation in fruits and alcohol development in wines. This fact somehow conflicts with the actual trend of wine markets that is increasingly asking for fresh, easy-to-drink, low alcohol wines. Moreover, other important quality traits of grapes and wines such as color, aroma, acidity and pH are detrimentally affected by ripening processes that occur largely during the hottest period of the season. Against this background, we aimed with this work to investigate the potentiality of different canopy management techniques to control and postpone the ripening process of Sauvignon blanc grapes.

    Liguria – Italy’s Unsung Region Society of Wine Educators August 12, 2016 Map Of Liguria – Ponente/Levante Enoteca Regionale • The Enoteca Regionale della Liguria, approved in December 2011, has the task of highlighting and promoting the wines of the region, with particular regard to those with a designation of origin and those obtained by organic and integrated farming methods, as well as other products derived from grape processing, wine and other typical regional agricultural food farming products of quality. • To date 80 members participate. Liguria produces 4.5 million bottles in the whole region. • Characterized by high quality grapes that comes from "heroic" viticulture with terraced vineyards and rows almost always grow along hillside slopes and often overlook the sea. History • Liguria, once a Roman region, was united at the beginning of the 4th century AD with the region of Emilia. At the end of the 4th century it was one with the region to the north of the Po –the Transpadana and had Milan as its capital city. • Between the 4th -10th Century Liguria was overtaken by many warring tribes. After the 10th century, the main Ligurian towns, especially on the coast, became city-states, over which Genoa soon extended its rule. Inland, however, fiefdoms belonged to noble families. • In 1805 Liguria lost its name and independence as it was divided up into departments by France. In 1815, after the fall of Napoleon and the Vienna congress, Liguria belonged - under the name of the Dukedom of Genoa - to the Savoy kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont. Andrea, a young winemaker from Riomaggiore, follows the wine-growing traditions handed down over generations. He takes you on a unique and interesting wine tour. The tasting consists of two different wines offering you a complete new gustatory experience - very natural wines, produced respecting the vineyard and the earth, without the use of chemical products, sulfites and yeasts. The results are intense wines which, through their scents and flavors, will transmit you the special characteristics of the place where they have grown - rocks, sea, herbs… These are authentic wines that symbolize both past and future – because this is the way the ancestors produced the wine in the past, but wines rich in history and character will impress the future too. In the afternoon you take a bus from Riomaggiore and reach Andrea at the starting point, together you will walk on a little trail into his vineyard. This is a unique panoramic place with a magnificent view over the steep Cinque Terre coast, made even more special by the sunset light. Andrea will explain you his wine growing methods - respecting the vineyard and the earth, without the use of chemical products. Skillful and with sensitivity he combines modern methods with ancient equipment as the terra-cotta amphorae. During the explanation of his wine making methods you will taste his natural and intense wines which, through their scents and flavors, will transmit you the special characteristics of the place where they have grown - rocks, sea, herbs… The wine tasting is accompanied by typical Ligurian focaccia bread.
