No debemos desear lo imposible El amor es tanto más ferviente cuanto más cierto es el conocimiento; pero la certidumbre nace del conocimiento integral de todas las partes, que reunidas forman el todo que debe ser amado Presentación ablar de Leonardo da Vinci no es fácil. Es un personaje supremamente complejo y enigmático que ha despertado toda clase de sentimientos a lo largo de la historia. A Leonardo se le conoce sobre todo como pintor, a pesar de la poca cantidad de obras que produjo ―no más de veinte―, pero fue un polímata renacentista que encarnó el arquetipo humanista del genio creador. HSus inquietudes intelectuales lo impulsaron a recorrer la ingeniería, la flosofía, la medicina, la poesía, la música, la culinaria, la biología, la mecánica, la óptica, la hidrodinámica, las matemáticas, la geometría, la astronomía, el dibujo, la pintura, la escultura, el urbanismo y la ] arquitectura. Sin educación formal, Leonardo no tuvo que desaprender 9 lo enseñado en la escuela y logró hacer importantes aportes a la tecnología, la ciencia, las humanidades y el arte gracias a su espíritu investigativo, su curiosidad insaciable y su imaginación inagotable. Sus ideas e inventos se adelantaron enormemente a su época con los obvios obstáculos, rechazos e impedimentos para concretarse. Podría decirse que fue un visionario que predijo algunos de los avances de la cultura y basó su vida en la búsqueda incansable del conocimiento. Para Da Vinci no había límites disciplinares, espaciales ni de tiempo. Su trabajo es un ejemplo de profundidad, hondura y rigurosidad que sirve de inspiración en los actuales tiempos de superfcialidad y apariencias. Leonardo nació el 15 de abril de 1452 en Vinci, Italia, cerca de Florencia, donde pasó su infancia; luego fue aprendiz en el taller del artista forentino Andrea del Verrocchio. Sus primeros trabajos representativos los realizó en Milán bajo la tutela del mecenas Ludovico Sforza y [ Universidad Nacional de Colombia | Sede Medellín posteriormente trabajó en Roma, Bolonia y Venecia. Pasó sus últimos años de vida en Francia con la protección del rey Francisco I y falleció a los 67 años en Amboise, Francia, el 2 de mayo de 1519. En 2019 se celebraron los quinientos años de su muerte y se realizaron numerosos homenajes y eventos en todo el mundo dedicados al erudito hombre universal de febril inventiva. En el marco de dicha conmemoración, la Universidad Nacional de Co- lombia, en su Sede Medellín, llevó a cabo varias actividades, lideradas particularmente y con gran entusiasmo por el profesor de la Facultad de Minas Sergio Andrés Restrepo Moreno, actual Director de Bienestar de la Sede. Un concurso de fotografía, un taller de cometas, la proyec- ción de documentales, algunos conciertos y otras actividades culturales animaron el ambiente universitario, entre las cuales se destaca el ciclo de conferencias y conversatorios “Da Vinci debería estar vivo” con la participación de distintas personalidades, académicos e investigadores, que mostraron la vigencia de los valores encarnados por el genio vin- ciano. Las cuatro conferencias centrales del evento hacen parte de este nuevo número de la Revista de Extensión Cultural, cuyo motivo es la vida, obra y legado del artista. Así mismo, la cátedra de la Sede “Saberes con sabor” presentó otra conferencia incluida en esta entrega, cuyo ponente fue el reconocido doctor Jorge Reynolds Pombo, quien tituló su presentación “Da Vinci y el corazón”, pronunciada el 30 de agosto de 2019, en la que subrayó el importante papel que jugó Leonardo en los avances médicos sobre la anatomía y el funcionamiento del corazón humano. Y de igual manera, muestra que, desafando todos los prejuicios de la época, este artista y científco del Renacimiento italiano se atrevió a diseccionar cadáveres ] para estudiar con precisión el cuerpo en su afán de conocimiento expe- riencial de la Naturaleza para benefcio de la ciencia y el arte. 10 La primera conferencia del programa “Da Vinci debería estar vivo”, titulada “Leonardo da Vinci y el Renacimiento”, llevada a cabo el 24 de septiembre de 2019, contextualizó la labor de Leonardo dentro de una cultura que redescubría el mundo tras un largo periplo de espiritualidad que cubrió la atmósfera europea y todas sus manifestaciones. Su orador, el profesor Nicolás Naranjo Boza, presenta un texto basado en su intervención, en el cual pone en evidencia la capacidad infnita de Leonardo para abordar integralmente cualquier aspecto de la realidad bajo el lente de lo que fuera una nueva perspectiva intelectual para la época. Posteriormente, se ha incluido un artículo del profesor de la Facultad [ Revista de Extensión Cultural | Número 65 de Minas de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia José Fernando Jiménez Mejía, que amplía su charla del 14 de noviembre del 2019 en el mencionado ciclo. Pocos personajes de la historia han manifestado su ingenio de manera tan extraordinaria como Leonardo, y precisamente el título de la disertación fue “Da Vinci y la ingeniería”, y como sabemos, ingeniería viene de ingenio. De tal manera, el profesor José Fernando hace un recorrido por el aspecto ingenioso del italiano para identifcar sus contribuciones en este campo de la ciencia y el conocimiento, destacando su multiplicidad tópica y la singular capacidad de descubrir en el detalle la posibilidad de la innovación.

In this work, pigment characterization was carried out on twenty-one Leonardesque paintings applying in situ XRF and FORS analyses. In-depth data evaluation allowed to get information on the colour palette and the painting technique of the different authors and workshops. Particular attention was paid to green pigments (for which a deeper study of possible pigments and alterations was performed with FORS analyses), flesh tones (for which a comparison with available data from cross sections was made) and ground preparation. Introduction In a previous study [1], which included stylistic and diagnostic analyses, it was found that the oil painting on canvas “Mona Lisa with columns”, part of a private collection in a museum in St. Petersburg (Figure 1), is a copy of the “Mona Lisa” by Leonardo (Figure 2) dating to a period between 1590 and 1660. Noteworthy features include the good quality, readability and expressiveness emanating from the work, which presum- ably is of Nordic influence, specifically German-Flemish. Figure 1.     La “viola organista” posterior Leonardo Fig 1 Praetorius “Sintagma Musicum” (1618.1619) Cap. XLIV, Geigenwerk o viola organista de Hans Hayden. Al igual que tantas otras de sus invenciones, la viola organista no llegó, como dijimos, seguramente nunca, a ser realizada por Leonardo, teniendo que intervenir el paso del tiempo para que la genial obra del gran precursor llegara a ser de evidente necesidad en el contexto de un natural progresivo devenir musical organológico. Algunos tratadistas datan y documentan erróneamente la construcción de instrumentos de esta índole por algunos autores en una época próxima a la muerte de Leonardo, basándose en los términos tasti o tastatura aplicados a unos instrumentos de arco, siendo que Leonardo había también llamado viola a tasti (CM Fol 76 r.) a su viola organista. Tal el caso de Lanfranco (15) quien, a propósito de la afinación de la viola de seis cuerdas, habla dei violoni da tasti et da arco; o de Ganassi (16) quien en el título de la primera pare de su "Regola rubertina", menciona la viola d'arco tastada y el violone d'arco da tasti en la segunda. El error estriba en que el término tasto, su plural tasti y el colectivo tastatura se aplicaban entonces indistintamente a las teclas y a los trastes de los instrumentos y que los autores precitados llamaban viole o violoni a tasti a los instrumentos de cuerda de estos nombres que tenían trastes en su díapasón.     Reflecting on fundamental issues of attributional method (Taking Leonardo da Vinci and his school as a paradigm) Chiara Matteucci Department of Cultural Heritage – University of Bologna Authentication in Art (AiA), Congress 11-13 May 2016 Nowadays diagnostic technologies have allowed to expant the number of characteristic properties detectable in a painting, such as the techniques used and the modus operandi of an artist, narrowing the field to those issues that are more difficult to fake. In this view, the diagnostic analyses for the attribution and authentication provide information, as obje ctive as possible, which, however, need a broader interpretation that integrate them in a historical context. In order to do so, it is also essential to keep an "ethos of transparence and verifiability [...] guaranteeing intersubjectivity of mutual communication"1. We should consider attributional studies as evolving as a construction/deconstruction process: experts should therefore be prepared to questioning their views, if new documents or material elements are discovered that raise doubts about their initial thesis2. In addition, the inevitable, but known and therefore graspable, "confirmation bias"3 should be taken into account, which, acting either in positive or negative ways, directs the subject engaged in connoisseurship towards the exclusive primary research of compatible elements or, on the contrary, the exclusive consideration of factors that are not congruent. As known, the current practice of attribution accepted both in the legal field and for commercial use is based on three key lines4: connoisseurship, or visual inspection by a knowing eye5, provenance studies and scientific investigations (Figure 1). The latter are currently used primarily as support for the expert's decision.
