Federal Pilots – SWP to Mile 233.5 AHOP Restrictions In Place: None 2. BAR Pilots – SWP to Pilottown (Mile 1.9 AHOP) Draft Recommendation – Unless restrictions are in place; . Max FW Draft is 47’ Restrictions in Place – None. 3. Crescent Pilots – Pilottown (Mile 1.9 AHOP) to Mile 104.7 AHOP Draft – Unless restrictions are in place; Max FW Draft is 47’. Restrictions in Place – None. 4. NOBRA Pilots – Mile 104.7 AHOP to Mile 233.5 AHOP Draft - Unless restrictions are in place: Recommendation Mile 104.7 to Mile 180 AHOP: Max FW Draft is 47'. Mile 180.0 to Mile 232.1 AHOP: Max FW Draft is 45'. Mooring Rules 1. When the river reaches seven (7) feet at the Carrollton Gage, all head-down landings will be conducted during daylight hours only. As of December 2, 2015 NOBRA Pilots modified their draft recommendations as follows: (Click here) The draft from Mile 90 to Mile 180 is 47’. The draft from Mile 180 to Mile 234 is 45’. (All MM are AHOP) As of December 14, 2015 NOBRA implemented their High-water restrictions as follows: Effective immediately and continuing until the Carrollton Gage reaches 12 feet and falling the following restriction applies: "Mooring and unmooring operations at all mid-stream transfer facilities shall be restricted to daylight hours." The official letter is attached. (This note posted on April 29, 2014) The calculation to determine the current air gap is “152.30 less the Carrollton Gage”. This measurement reflects the USCG’s official publicized height for the low-steel measurement in the main navigation channel. The USCG document can be viewed here. Click here The NOBRA Pilots are using the high-steel measurement of 153.00’ for the air gap of the main navigation channel. Note 2: Due to construction on the Sunshine Bridge the air draft on that bridge is reduced by 5 feet. Normal Maximum Vertical Clearance is 171’. It is now 166’. Therefore, the Sunshine Bridge air draft is computed as: 166’ less the Donaldsonville gage. Low Steel is 163’ less the Donaldsonville gage. Note 3: Delayed: This project has not started. The above table reflects the full air gap calculation of (170’ less the Carrollton Gage). The Crescent City Connection (a.k.a. GNO) Bridges across the Mississippi River, mile 95.7, AHOP, will undergo sandblasting and painting. Work will begin, over the navigation channel on December 14, 2015 and continue until approximately August 30, 2016. This work will reduce the vertical clearance of the bridge by 6 feet. The published Center Navigation Channel air gap of the GNO is 170 ft when Carrollton Gage is 0.0 ft. Therefore: While the maintenance scaffolding is in place, the Center Navigation Channel height of the GNO will be 164 ft less the Carrollton Gage. Low steel on the alternate span will be 160.2 feet less the Carrollton Gage. Today’s LMR Key Lock Status USCG VTS Measure MM 234-235 AHOP LMR Measures for Towing Vessels (Click here).
