BIG BAND RTV SLOVENIA

Big Band RTV Slovenia is one of the oldest bands of the kind in the world, it has been active without interruptions since 1945. Its beginnings are mostly due to the “maestro” Bojan Adamic, who conducted the orchestra until the beginning of the 1960s. The conductor post of the orchestra was then taken over by the young Jože Privšek, whose best qualities have proved in the field of composition, arrangement and conducting of the orchestra. He took the Plesni orkester of Radio Ljubljana, as it used to be named at that time, to the highest quality level not only in Slovenia but also outside Slovene boarders. After Jože Privšek the conductor post of the orchestra was taken over by Lojze Krajncan, and apart from him also by Petar Ugrin, Milko Lazar, Emil Spruk and others. One of the qualities of Big Band RTV Slovenia is its variegated offer, it meets the needs of radio and television programmes in very different music areas, like dance, film, entertaining and serious music. However, its predominant interest and love are dedicated to jazz.
