Classical Café Series All Classical Café performances are in the intimate Stage West theatre. Amernet String Quartet w/Special Guest Artist Wednesday, January 8, 2014 @ 3pm Back by popular demand and lauded for their "intelligence" and “immensely satisfying” playing by , the Amernet String Quartet has garnered worldwide praise and recognition as one of today's exceptional string quartets. Ensemble-in-Residence at Florida International University since 2004, the group was formed in 1991, while its founding members were students at Juilliard. Amernet soon rose to international attention winning the Gold Medal at the Tokyo International Music Competition in 1992. The group was the First Prize winner of the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition. Yuki Numata, violin Wednesday, January 22, 2014 @ 3pm Ms. Numata has designed a afternoon of music entitled Looking Forward Through Bac. This program strives to illustrate the vast influence J.S. Bach's 6 Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin have had on subsequent solo violin works through to the twentieth century. Musical pairings include Bach's Sonata in G Minor and Béla Bartòk's Sonata for Solo Violin followed by the imitable Chaconne (from Bach's Partita in D Minor) and Luciano Berio's Sequenza VIII.

Gould Piano Trio Wednesday, February 19, 2014 @ 3pm From their early success at the Charles Hennen and the Inaugural Melbourne Competitions through being selected as British “Rising Stars” in 1998, the Gould Piano Trio has emerged as one of the finest chamber ensembles, boasting an impressive discography, with festival appearances at Edinburgh, Cheltenham, City of London, Bath, Aldeburgh, Spoleto and the BBC Proms. In their extensive tours, they have performed at Lincoln Centre, Frick Collection, Weill Hall, Queens Hall - Edinburgh, – Amsterdam and the Palais des Beaux Arts - Brussels, as well as recitals in Paris, Cologne, Athens, and Vienna. “The Gould Piano Trio met Smetana's Trio in G Major's emotional demands with the highest commitment and deepest artistic insight, seamlessly moving through its shifting, conflicting states of feeling while revealing their complexities and nuances.” -

Conrad Tao Wednesday, March 26, 2014 @ 3pm Hailed by renowned music critic Harris Goldsmith as “the most exciting prodigy to ever come my way” (), 17-year-old Chinese-American pianist Conrad Tao was found playing children’s songs on the piano at 18 months of age. Born in Urbana, Illinois, he gave his first piano recital at age 4, and at age 8, made his debut performing Mozart’s in A major, K. 414. Conrad is currently a Gilmore Young Artist, an honor awarded every two years to single out the most promising of the new generation of U.S. pianists. In December 2011, he was the only classical musician to make Forbes’ “30 Under 30″ list highlighting the “youngest stars in the music business.”
