Tonight, we celebrate our thriving school community, generous supporters of Catholic education and the future of Immaculate. This is a special night when we recognize Nancy K. Dolan Leadership Award honoree, Brian McGovern and Distinguished Service Award honoree, John Capilli. These awards represent our deepest gratitude for their extraordinary altruistic efforts and commitments on behalf of Immaculate High School students. As Chairman of the Immaculate School Advisory Board’s Alumni Committee, Brian McGovern ’89 was instrumental in creating an alumni database and reconnecting alumni with each other and with Immaculate by establishing our Alumni Association. In addition, Brian assisted with improving the school’s implementation of technology in the classroom. With a diverse background in executive leadership and numerous awards, Brian is the General Manager at Mitratech has been honored for outstanding performance and holds two United States patents. It is without a doubt that his leadership and his commitment emulate the core values embodied by one of the most respected advocates of Immaculate High School, Nancy K. Dolan. John Capilli, parent of Cara ‘14 and Johnny ‘17 is a member of the School Advisory Board and the Annual Golf Outing planning committee. In addition to his voluntary service, he has generously sponsored numerous fundraising programs for athletics, the tuition assistance programs, Annual Golf Outing and Annual Gala. A visionary, John has always been proactive with assisting in creating and implementing purposeful plans for the benefit of all students. His humble demeanor, keen insights, generosity, positive energy and charitable service are some of the many reasons that we honor John with the Distinguished Service Award. This evening is one of lighting the way for the future of Immaculate. The funds raised tonight will provide the resources needed to help our students continue to grow as learners and aspiring leaders. The immeasurable support and dedication of our founders, alumni, parents, pastors, Advisory Board, faculty, staff, administration, partner schools and benefactors have been and continue to be the reason why Immaculate High School ranks among the top ten Catholic schools in the State of Connecticut. Nancy Kellogg Dolan Nancy Kellogg Dolan was born in Danbury, THE IMMACULATE Connecticut on May 11, 1941. She grew up in Bethel, graduated from Bethel High School and HIGH SCHOOL FAMILY went on to graduate from the New England School SINCERELY THANKS THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS of Banking at Williams College. WHO HAVE WORKED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO MAKE THE GALA A SUCCESS! Nancy was one of the founders of The Candlewood Bank and Trust Company in New Fairfield in 1985 and became its Managing Director in 1992. She GALA CO-CHAIRS SPONSORSHIP & AUCTION opened its Danbury office after a later merger with Corrinne DiVestea ADVERTISEMENT COORDINATOR New Milford Bank & Trust. She remained through Carol Goode Carol Goode Trish McKenzie two more mergers. Nancy later became a Vice Trish McKenzie AUCTION President and Business Development Officer at Newtown Savings Bank in Danbury. She retired in RAFFLE TICKETS COORDINATOR Jen Cirone 2005 due to her cancer diagnosis. Denise Fontenelli Nancy’s lifetime volunteer experience is extensive in the greater Danbury community and GALA COMMITTEE the Diocese of Bridgeport. She was a member of the Rehabilitation Council for the State Beth Conley, Danielle Connors, Jen Cirone, Lynn Dudas, of Connecticut and served on the Board of Catholic Family Services as its president. She Maria Falcao, Lisa Marie Font, Lisa Ghosh, Ursula Hanavan, served on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army and the Diocese of Bridgeport Lori Mascetta, Emily Mellen, Melisa Moreau, Barbara Mueller, “Faith in the Future” campaign. She was a Chairman of the endowment fund for the Pope Marilyn Vieux John Paul II Health Center, served on the Board of Catholic Charities for the Bridgeport Diocese, the Diocesan Board of Finance, the Board of Diocesan Health Care Corporation and was a retired member of the Northern Fairfield County United Way Board of Directors. SPECIAL THANK YOU TO She was an active member in the Danbury Rotary Club, a strong supporter of Ann’s Place Mary Maloney - President in Danbury and an active member of St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield, Wendy Neil- Principal Connecticut. Nancy was awarded the Mary Dolce Award for Community Service. Debbie Basile - Director of Advancement Denise Suarez - Director of Admissions In 1992 she received the Cross Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice from Pope John Paul II, one of Jeannie Demko - Director of Alumni Engagement the highest awards a lay person can receive from the Catholic Church. In 1991 she was Austin Alterio - Director of Digital Media inducted as a Lady of the Holy Sepulcher. In 1998 she was inducted as a Dame of Malta. Caitlin Wardlow - Digital Communications Assistant Theresa Ludanyi - Advancement Team Assistant Nancy was the first and only female Chairman of the Immaculate High School Advisory Sally Wilson - Event Coordinator Board. Her passion for the education of Immaculate students is credited among other things with helping to steer the school into a strong performing arts programs, advance its college preparatory curriculum and establish a state of the art science lab. Immaculate High School Criteria for Service Award AWARD RECIPIENT NANCY K. DOLAN LEADERSHIP AWARD BRIAN P. MCGOVERN '89 NANCY K. DOLAN LEADERSHIP The award was established in 2006 in honor of Nancy Dolan, who was the first Chairperson AWARD RECIPIENT of the Immaculate High School Advisory Board. It was crafted to pay tribute to those special individuals who unselfishly give of themselves to their community, charitable organizations, people in need, house of worship and most importantly, the education of our youth. During his time at Immaculate, Brian enjoyed playing varsity hockey and was a member of the math league. He continued his studies at Western Connecticut State University to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. Brian Former Nancy K. Dolan Leadership has always been an active member of his Class of ‘89 with planning reunions and became directly involved with the school in 2009 as a member of the School Advisory Board. His leadership roles included creating and Award Recipients: implementing a technology plan that introduced the use of laptops and projectors in the classroom. As an 2006 – Kevin Kelleher alumnus, Brian wanted alumni to become re-engaged with the school and launched a campaign to capture class data so that the school could communicate with alumni and to reignite what is now a very vibrant Immaculate 2007 – The Most Reverend William E. Weiss 2014 – The Most Reverend Bishop Frank J. Caggiano A resident of Brookfield Connecticut, Brian and his wife Janet have three children. Morgan is a junior at the University of South Carolina majoring in International Business; Devin Class of 2021 at Immaculate has been a four- 2015 – Joseph T. Draper year varsity swimmer, captain of the swim team and holds three all-time IHS swim records; Garrett, is in middle 2016 – Anthony M. Rizzo, Jr. school and is an avid baseball player. In his spare time, Brian works with non-profit organizations in his community. 2017 - Kathleen Casey In addition to his professional and volunteer leadership, Brian was honored with the 2015 Association of Corporate 2018 - Robert Van Houten ‘72 Counsel Value Champions Award and by NY Law Journal as an Outstanding In-House Legal Department. He is a 2020 - Ralph A. McIntosh '68 Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and holds two patents with the United States Patent Office.
