CIAC MEMBER SCHOOLS 2008‐09 This Directory of CIAC Member Schools has been an annual publication of the Connecticut Association of Schools since the 1949‐50 school year. Three classes – S, M and L – have been designated for representation of member high schools on the CIAC Board of Control. Classes are determined based on the total enrollment of Grades 9‐12 as of October 1 in the even numbered years. Each class will consist of approximately one third (1/3) of the institutional member schools so determined. Such representatives shall be principals of institutional member schools. Boy enrollments and girl enrollments, grade 9 through 12, as of October 1 of each school year are used in determining tournament division placement in the subsequent school year in all CIAC‐sponsored sports tournaments. Member school enrollment figures must be those supplied to the State Department of Education on October 1 in the year for which CIAC membership is sought. They must be the actual school enrollment figures on which state per‐pupil grants are calculated, and must therefore include, as well as all regular students, special education students, out‐placed students, homebound students, alternative education students, etc. KEY TO ABBREVIATIONS USED IN THIS DIRECTORY: AD — Athletic Director LAX — Lacrosse BASE — Baseball OT — Outdoor Track BB — Basketball SAD — Student Activities Director CHEER — Cheerleading SB — Softball FB — Football SOC — Soccer FH — Field Hockey SWIM — Swimming FM — Faculty Manager TEN — Tennis GOLF — Golf UNIF — Unified Sports Coach GYM — Gymnastics VB — Volleyball IHOC — Hockey WREST — Wrestling IT — Indoor Track XC — Cross Country CIAC MEMBERSHIP CLASSES 2008‐2009 and 2009‐2010 CLASS L 1. • The Prevalence and Impact of School Resource Officers in Connecticut Appendix A
Policing Connecticut’s Hallways: The Prevalence and Impact of School Resource Officers in Connecticut Appendix A In this appendix, we describe in greater detail the statistical analyses and results used in our report. Data Sources The data used in this report come from three sources: the 2015-2016 and 2013-2014 United States Department of Education Office of Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC), the 2015-2016 school year reporting from the Connecticut State Department of Education data reporting tool “EdSight,”1 and District Reference Groups (DRG) designations that group school districts according to similar community characteristics and resources. We used the 2015 SDE DRG designations.2 Our data set included data from charter schools where possible, but we should note that charter schools are their own district so any analyses where we look at District Reference Groups do not include charter schools. The CRDC is a federally mandated reporting of school-level data regarding educational access for protected classes of students (gender, race/ethnicity, nationality, disability status, etc.). All public schools (PreK-12) in the country are required to report to the federal government on issues such as the use of exclusionary discipline, teacher experience, and enrollment in advanced courses. EdSight is a state repository of school-, state-, and district-level education data taken from all school districts in Connecticut. The authors of this paper acknowledge that the data in this study are now two years out of date. Because there is no central public reporting of the presence of SROs in CT, data on which schools employ SROs are most available and accessible through the CRDC website, but the last available year of data available through this data set is School Year (SY) 2015-2016.

  • Swimming and Diving DIVISION II MEN’S
Swimming and Diving DIVISION II MEN’S Highlights Drury wins 10th consecutive men’s title: It is now, officially, a decade of dominance. Drury won its record 10th consecutive men’s NCAA Division II national title as the Panthers squad walked away with top honors as the national swimming and diving cham- pionships came to a close on Saturday night at the Spire Institute. The DU men were untouched yet again, compiling 569.5 points to 361 for runner-up Florida Southern. Wayne State (Mich.) finished third at 358.5, followed by Queens (N.C.) (285) and Bridgeport (258.5) to round out the top five. The men’s meet appeared over, for all intents and purposes, by no later than the end of the second day, when the Panthers were already up by triple digits. It marks the 12th men’s title since Drury made the move to the NCAA-II level in 1994-95. Counting their NAIA days, it’s the 21st men’s national championship, with all but one of those coming under the magnificent, 31-year reign of head coach Brian Reynolds. And each one, Reynolds says, feels just as important and satisfying as those of the past. “They all are special,” he said. “The only thing that gets old is the level of stress I have to endure as I get older. My body can’t seem to cope with it as well as it used to.” And, just as it seemingly happens every year, Drury had past stars uphold and enhance their reputations on their way out as seniors and new faces emerge as Panthers to watch in the coming years.
