SUNDAY, 5 JULY 2020 LOVE ROMPS IN THE OAKS SERPENTINE SUBLIME IN Already an emphatic winner of the G1 1000 Guineas, THE DERBY Coolmore=s Love (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) entered elite territory on Saturday with a nine-length romp in the G1 Investec Oaks at Epsom. While not quite in the arena of the 12-length 1983 heroine Sun Princess (GB), this winning margin equalled that of the 1996 heroine Lady Carla (GB) (Caerleon) and there have been only four fillies in this race=s history to have won by further. Settled behind a duo among the main six-strong group racing adrift of the runaway pacemakers Tiempo Vuela (GB) (Lope de Vega {Ire}) and Passion (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) early, the chestnut moved forward to swamp stablemate Ennistymon (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) approaching two out. Powering clear from there, she led home another one-two for Ballydoyle as Ennistymon held off Frankly Darling (GB) (Frankel {GB}) by 3/4 of a length for the runner=s-up spot. MONDAY, 7 JUNE 2021 CLASSIC DOUBLE FOR ST BOLSHOI BALLET >VERY SORE= FOLLOWING CAZOO DERBY MARK=S BASILICA Coolmore partners= Bolshoi Ballet (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who sustained a cut to his hind leg in the G1 Cazoo Derby before finishing seventh, is reported to be >very sore=, but that the injury will not take significant time to heal. The dual Group 3 winner was favoured at Epsom on Saturday. AHe was very sore this morning,@ said trainer Aidan O=Brien. AWe played back the videos of the race. At the top of the hill he had it, so he obviously got it in the first 150 yards. Usually with a horse if that happens late in a race it doesn=t affect them much because their blood is up, but this happened very early so it suggests it was a good reason for a disappointing run. It was just off the tendon at the back. The lads thought seven to 10 days is when we should be able to do something again with him.@ St Mark=s Basilica | Scoop Dyga IN TDN AMERICA TODAY ESSENTIAL QUALITY FINE AFTER BELMONT Champion Essential Quality (Tapit), who won the GI Belmont S. Lot 90, a colt by Medaglia D’Oro consigned by Malcolm Trade was headed by a son of Medaglia D’Oro who outstripped Bastard, topped the Arqana Breeze-Up Sale, held at Goffs UK last year’s top price of £650,000 when the hammer eventually in Doncaster yesterday, when being purchased by Godolphin came down at £675,000. for £675,000. © Steve Davies The spirited bidding battle went the way of Anthony Stroud, who confirmed: “He’s been bought for Godolphin. He did a very nice breeze and Malcolm Bastard does a fantastic job, he’s very good at bringing these horses on. He was the horse that we wanted.” The colt’s delighted consignor added: “He is a fantastic horse, he IN TODAY’S ISSUE... breezed great and he has a superb temperament. PRIX DE SANDRINGHAM Resume of the race Very unlucky after getting boxed in the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (Groupe 1) in the latter stages, Mission Impassible put the wrongs to right by landing the Prix de Sandringham (Group 2). Cristian Demuro managed to relax his mount in the slipstream of the leader Efaadah before the combination took the latter’s measure in the straight. Crown Walk, coming off a win in a maiden, finished strongly to deprive Efaadah of second. Mission Impassible is expected to race at Deauville in the summer but it’s not the cards that she will tackle either the Prix de Diane Longines or go to Royal Ascot. The race under the microscope 1st- Mission Impassible : A little keen early on before being shading the front running Efaadah. She took time to pick up but, after hitting full stride, she ran on strongly in the final 200 metres to win a shade cosily. 2nd - Crown Walk : After bringing up the rear for a long way, she was noted doing her best work towards the finish by running on strongly to take second in the final strides. 3rd - Efaadah: Smartly into her stride, she set a honest tempo but had to give best to Mission Impassible before losing second to Crown Walk in the dying strides.. 4th - Shamtee: Held up at the back of the field, she kept on well on the outside of the field – threatening Efaadah for third. 5th- Ellthea: After chasing the pace, she threatened on the outside with 400 metres to go but was unable to sustain her effort.
