IMPROVING FONTHILL ABBEY SCORES IN PRIX BERTRAND DE TARRAGON Godolphin’s improving four-year-old Dubawi filly Fonthill Abbey continued her upward curve when registering her first Stakes win in the Gr.3 Prix Bertrand de Tarragon at Chantilly yesterday. Second on her debut at two, she won her maiden here last season and, having won again at Vichy last month, she was beaten just a short head in the Listed Prix de la Cochère at Longchamp last time by the re-opposing Testa (Acclamation). Ridden by Mickael Barzalona, she settled at the rear of the seven-runner field as Suphala (Frankel) took them along at an even gallop, tracked by Testa and Tickle Me Green (Sea The Moon), who was on the rail. Having turned for home, the tempo lifted and Fonthill Abbey made good progress on the outer before quickening to the front 300m out and going on to score by a half a length. Thalyia (Motivator) had to switch off heels and flew home late on to grab second, while Tickle Me Green, on the other hand, hardly came off the bridle, trapped on the rail behind Suphala, who was a well-beaten third, three quarters of a length behind the runner-up.
