There will be a mandatory pre-race veterinary exam with Dr. William McCormick. Bandages are not permitted during the examination. LASIX HORSES MUST BE ON THE GROUNDS FOUR (4) HOURS PRIOR TO POST TIME FOR THEIR SCHEDULED RACE. ALL HORSES MUST BE ON THE GROUNDS TWO (2) HOURS PRIOR TO POST TIME FOR THE FIRST RACE UNLESS EXCUSED BY THE STEWARDS FOR EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES. HORSE ARRIVAL IS SCHEDULED FOR 8-9 AM, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2020. POST TIME FOR THE FIRST RACE IS 12:30 P.M.

NEW WEIGHING IN POLICY: The only jockeys who will dismount and weigh in at the Judges Stand will be the winning jockey and any jockey claiming foul. The other jockeys will stay mounted and return to the paddock to dismount. These jockeys will weigh in at the same scales they weighed out on. The weigh in at the finish will be handled by a second Clerk of the Scales. The riders who do weigh in at the finish will have a gator waiting to take them to the jocks room.

Upon finishing any race, all horses and riders MUST pull up before, or under no circumstances, after the pond. Returning to the finish line and paddock, you must stay on the gallop lane. Leaving the gallop lane, or pulling up past the pond will result in a penalty of $500.

Except for the winner, all other horses and riders must make their way back to the paddock by way of the gallop lane and finish line, and must ride off course directly into the paddock to meet grooms and dismount. Do not dismount or remove tack until you are in the paddock.

Foal papers are not required to be on file with the Horse Identifier at the races providing the horse can be properly identified; tattoos and microchips are required for all horses, with a one-time exception providing the horse can be identified by its markings. All scratches must be made no later than one hour prior to post time for the first race.

No raised toes, front or rear, will be permitted in any race. A raised toe is defined as an extension of the shoe by more than 1/16 of an inch. Stickers, caulks, and turndowns are not permitted. Shoes will be inspected before each race.

As required by the Virginia Department of Agriculture: All horses (including horses originating within Virginia) entering the Virginia Fall Races must have an official health certificate dated within 30 days of entry and signed by a licensed veterinarian. The document must contain the following statement: ?Horses represented on this certificate have not originated from a barn with a confirmed or suspected case of Equine Herpes Virus or Strangles, have not shown signs suggestive of these diseases, and have not been febrile within the previous three weeks.? Rectal temperature for each horse at the time of examination must be recorded on the health certificate. Coggins test must be conducted within 12 months, and the test report must be presented with the health certificate. The test must be valid to cover the time the horse is expected to be within the facility.

The Virginia Fall course was inspected on September 22, 2020 by Doug Fout. Turf: Consists of fescue. Compaction: 109 (good) Moisture: 8 (average wet) Notes: The course has been mowed every two weeks throughout the summer. With the abnormal amount of rain it has been great for the course. The course will be mowed one week before race day.

COVID-19 Protocols MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES while on the Glenwood Park property, except when jockeys are mounted on a horse. Arrival times are assigned. NO EXCEPTIONS. Trainers must submit the names of owners and grooms prior to race day. Only owners with horses running at Virginia Fall Races are permitted with NSA badge and their names MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THEIR TRAINER BY WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2020. 1. Your trainer must submit your name(s) to the Virginia Fall Races. 2. You must bring your NSA badge. You will not be admitted without it. NO EXCEPTIONS. 3. You must have a horse or horses entered at the Virginia Fall Races. 4. OWNERS ARRIVE 11:30 am- 12:30 pm. NO EXCEPTIONS. 5. There is a designated Owner Parking Area. 6. NO CARS WILL BE PERMITTED TO PARK IN THE HORSE VAN AREA. 7. You must return a signed Waiver and COVID-19 Questionnaire to the Virginia Fall Races prior to Wednesday, October 7, 2020. Prior to entry to Glenwood Park, all participants must fill out this health self-assessment questionnaire. Please fill it out and submit it to [email protected] prior to Wednesday, October 7, 2020. This will expedite your entry process the morning of the races. Upon your arrival at the gate, you will have your temperature taken. Everyone must completely exit the vehicle while having their temperature taken. If anyone in a vehicle has a temperature of 99.5* or higher, the entire vehicle will be held for ten (10) minutes for a temperature recheck. Upon temperature recheck, if anyone in the vehicle has a temperature of 99.5* or higher, the entire vehicle will be refused entry. WAIVER OF LIABILITY AMD INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT

This Waiver of Liability and Indemnification Agreement by ______(Releasor) with respect to the Virginia Fall Races, Inc., Glenwood Park and any shareholders, officers, directors, members, managers, employees, agents, volunteers, or contractors of the foregoing (collectively “Releasees”).

In consideration of being granted access to the facilities I hereby, for myself, my heirs, assigns and legal representatives, waive my right to sue and release Releasees, and each of them, to the fullest extent allowed pursuant to Virginia law, from any and all liability for any injury, loss or claim arising from, connected with, or occurring on or about the facilities.

I understand the intrinsic risks to equine activities, including steeplechase racing, may include, but not be limited to, the presence of potentially dangerous animals, vehicles, equipment, objects, chemicals, and machinery. I understand the description of these risks is not complete and that other unknown or unanticipated risks may result in injury or death. I understand that I must exercise extreme diligence for potential dangers, including, but not limited to, moving vehicles and machinery, falling or shifting objects, and the presence and potential reaction of animals.

I assume all risk for injury arising from, connected with, or occurring on or about the facilities. Furthermore, I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold Releasees, and each of them, free and harmless from any and all costs, expenses and attorney’s fees incurred in connection with any action, claim, or demand arising from, connected with, or occurring on or about the facilities used by Releasees, or any of them, related to my use thereof or any action of mine thereon, my negligence for another’s safety which results in injury, or any other person’s negligence for my safety which results in injury.

In the event the Releasor is a minor, the parent or guardian shall further indemnify, defend, and hold Releasees harmless from such claims by said minor child, regardless of any statute of limitations or contractual limitations of actions.

NOTICE: “Intrinsic dangers of equine activities” means those dangers or conditions that are an integral part of equine activities, including (i) the propensity of equines to behave in ways that may result in injury, harm, or death to persons on or around them; (ii) the unpredictability of an equine’s reaction to such things as sounds, sudden movement, and unfamiliar objects, persons, or other animals; (iii) certain hazards such as surface and subsurface conditions; (iv) collisions with other animals or objects; and (v) the potential of a participant acting in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury to the participant or others, such as failing to maintain control over the equine or not acting within the participant’s ability.
