We celebrated our yearly Ganesh Mahotsav in September and Navaratri in October. We look forward to celebrate Deepavali with all our devotees’ participation. We, the Board thank the President and her team of Executive members for working. tirelessly all year long. We appreciate the support of front office managers and volunteers as well as our priests. Swati Pandit Chairperson, Board Of Trustees, 2019 2 D/FW Hindu Temple Society \ Message from the President \ Management Namaste Devotees, Board of Trustees I am honored to be part of this DFW Hindu Chair Person Temple “Ekta Mandir” serving you as your Swati Pandit 817-267-0265 st president. I came on board on January 1 2019 Secretary and started working with the calendar events and pujas. I worked to remodel the cultural hall, Manoj Parikh 972-298-2011 install new tiles, and paint the stage and the walls. Members This year I am proud to say we created a downloadable mobile App to take the temple Dr. Jagannatha Rao 214-995-9731 to a new level. It is called DFW Hindu Temple, Khemchand Nangrani 972 -742-5680 Since Shri Gopal Maharaj resigned, we started seeking new priests Manju Shrivatsava 972-307-0407 for the open position. In March, we hired Shree Lokesh Panday Manmadhan Nair 214-675-1201 and he came on board in April. In May, we bought a floor cleaning Dr. N. K. Monga 214-368-8563 machine and in June, we ordered 600 new chairs for the remodeled cultural hall. Satyanarayana Bodla 817-354-6068 During these 6 months, the temple roof was not forgotten. The Thakorbhai Patel 972-869-3929 construction committee (Manojbhai Parikh being chair) started Vinoda Kumar 817-706-3767 working with the insurance adjustors simultaneously to get funds for a brand new roof. Our public adjustors, Jett McCay and Kris Goodman (from Pinnacle Executive Committee LLP), were successful in issuing funds for the new roof from the temple insurance company President In August and September, we installed a new roof on the clinic and on the priest’s quarter. Kusum Masters 817-265-0115 In October we signed a contract with SPS Roofing company, (owner Simon Shellis) and the roof is 99% completed. In November Vice President I we started to renovate the main temple including garba graha, Chandra K Bandar 469-286-6721 main temple lobby and the shoe room. We have given a modern look to the temple, which includes upgrades to the shoe room and water heaters. Much more maintenance work is being done Vice President II in 2019, such as the painting of the Gopurum. Rajendra Vankawala 817-896-7258 As you can see from 2019 Ekta Mandir calendar, the temple is full of events all year around. We had numberous events such as seven days of Maharudram, where 5 priests came from India and 6 priests Secretary came from other states. This puja was done under the leadership Manoj Chopra 972-679-7166 of Priest Mahalingamji. Currently, we are working on a new puja name Punah Prana Pratishtha. The first part of this puja was done Treasurer on November 26th where they moved all the pranas to Sanskar Bhavan to create a temple with positive vibration. This was done Anil Sabnis 214-676-0952 because the main temple was under renovation. The second puja, from Dec. 20th-22nd, is where the pranas will be taken back to the Joint Treasurer main temple. The temple will be in full operation as of December Nalini Totloor 214-532-0666 22nd . Temple events and pujas are all done at a grand level such as Ganesh Mahotsav, Navratri, Durga Jagran, Shree Yantra Chakra Committee Members Puja, Skand Shasti, Diwali puja, celebration and dinner, and ending with 41 days of Ayyappa Swamy Mandala Puja.     Cultural Digestion of a less dominant culture by a more dominant culture is motivated by the desire to assimilate and reduce differences by asserting sameness. As a consequence, the less dominant culture is stripped of its distinctive, traditional cultural practices and values. These are now a component of the dominant culture and become associated with it. Memories of origins are erased and, eventually, the less dominant culture disappears. Examples of Digestion are provided below. The word YOGA could not be translated into Exercise, Prayer or Gymnastics. The non-translatability ensures that YOGA is associated with its origin and development in and thus preserves the authentic philosophy and cultural practices surrounding YOGA.     LIVES OF INDIAN SAINTS I read a bit about the saints of India in a school. We were not taught in a manner whereby one could get composite knowledge about Indian saints, the sole purpose was to mug up and get through the exams. Ever since I left school, in my subconscious mind, there was a desire to find a book that told me about Indian saints. This desire was fulfilled 23 years later when I found a book “Lives of Saints” by Swami Sivananda. What is happiness or knowledge if not shared? So I am reproducing the book for you. My comments are in brackets. You are reading this essay due to the superlative efforts of my assistant Ajay who has typed some eighty pages. This essay is dedicated to all Indian saints particularly Veda Vyasa, Sankara, Samartha Ramdas, Namdev, Mirabai, Guru Govind Singh, Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Narayan Guru, Sri Aurobindo, Sri Ramana Maharshi and all Bharityas who have sacrificed their lives for the protection of Bharat. Before you go ahead I must say that no civilization, culture can survive if its people adopt the path of non-violence read to mean not retaliating even when you are attacked. Quoting Swami Sivananda “Who is a saint? He who lives in God or the Eternal, who is free from egoism, likes and dislikes, selfishness, vanity, mine-ness, lust, greed and anger, who is endowed with equal vision, balanced mind, mercy, tolerance, righteousness and cosmic love, and who has divine knowledge is a saint. Saints and sages only can become real advisors to the kings, because they are selfless and possess the highest wisdom.

    Mahanirvana Tantra Tantra of the Great Liberation Translated by Arthur Avalon (Sir John Woodroffe) [1913] Introduction and Preface PREFACE THE Indian Tantras, which are numerous, constitute the Scripture (Shastra) of the Kaliyuga, and as such are the voluminous source of present and practical orthodox "Hinduism." The Tantra Shastra is, in fact, and whatever be its historical origin, a development of the Vaidika Karmakanda, promulgated to meet the needs of that age. Shiva says: "For the benefit of men of the Kali age, men bereft of energy and dependent for existence on the food they eat, the Kaula doctrine, O auspicious one! is given" (Chap. IX., verse 12). To the Tantra we must therefore look if we would understand aright both ritual, yoga, and sadhana of all kinds, as also the general principles of which these practices are but the objective expression. Yet of all the forms of Hindu Shastra, the Tantra is that which is least known and understood, a circumstance in part due to the difficulties of its subject-matter and to the fact that the key to much of its terminology and method rest with the initiate. The present translation is, in fact, the first published in Europe of any Indian Tantra. An inaccurate version rendered in imperfect English was published in Calcutta by a Bengali editor some twelve years ago, preceded by an Introduction which displayed insufficient knowledge in respect of what it somewhat quaintly described as "the mystical and superficially technical passages" of this Tantra. A desire to attempt to do it greater justice has in part prompted its selection as the first for publication.
