The Fortress City, Citta' Umilissima, "a city built by gentlemen for gentlemen", Valletta has many titles, all recalling its rich historical past. It is the "modern" city built by the Knights of St John; a masterpiece of the baroque; a European Art City; and a World Heritage City.

Walking through Valletta one will come across intriguing historical sites around every corner: votive statues, niches, fountains and coats of arms high up on parapets. And when you need to stop and take it all in, the city yields up squares, courtyards, gardens and any number of cafés, right on cue.

The Upper Barracca Gardens offer a magnificent view of the and all surrounding fortifications and towns that were developed during the period of the Order of St. John.

We will take a walk through Valletta’s straight streets, each offering a view of the open sea or one of Valletta’s harbours towards St. John’s Co-Cathedral, which is one of the greatest artistic treasures of the Maltese Islands left by the Order of the Knights. Built in 1571, it boasts one of the finest baroque interiors ever, while the façade is in the original renaissance style. On Sundays the Co Cathedral is open for prayer only.

We will visit the Grand Master’s and its magnificent State Rooms & Armoury. Grand Master’s Palace was one of the first buildings in Valletta, erected in 1571. During the British period it served as the Governor's Palace. The Council of Government and the Malta Legislative Assembly Coach transfer back to the hotel.

Our guide will unravel the intriguing mysteries of this enchanting city. On passing through the narrow streets of Mdina, we will admire the imposing that command a magnificent view of most of the islands. Each building, parapet, coat of arms and corner is full of history.

We will continue with a visit to Wignacourt Museum in Rabat, a baroque residence of the Chaplains of the Knights of Malta inaugurated by Grand Master Aloph de Wignacourt (1601- 1622) as well as of its contents.

Prior to returning to the hotel we shall visit the Cliffs of .

Depart from the hotel by coach along with a guide and head towards the south part of the island, where we will visit the traditional fishing village of , Blue Grotto and the megalithic temples of Hagar Qim.

Marsaxlokk is a traditional fishing village located in the south- eastern part of Malta. The village’s name comes from marsa, which means "port" and xlokk, which is the local name for south east. The word is related to the name for the dry sirocco wind that blows from the Sahara. The first Phoenicians landed and set up trading posts on Malta, during the ninth century BC. During the Great , Marsaxlokk harbor was also used as an anchorage by the Turkish fleet.

Hagar Qim Temples are one of the oldest freestanding buildings in the world dating back to 2500 B.C. and were excavated for the first time in 1839 and is situated on a hilltop where one can admire breathtaking views of the sea and the island of .

A visit of the famous Blue Grotto will follow, where weather permitting we can visit the different caves by boat and enjoy the amazing blue florescent colour of the water!

Depart from the hotel with a coach and a licensed guide and head towards the three cities.

On the other side of the Grand Harbour from Valletta, are the historic fortified towns referred to as the three cities. Vittoriosa, and , built by the Grandmasters Cottonera, have a unique charm and character that distinguish them from all other towns in Malta, including Mdina and Valletta, Older than Valletta, the three cities were home to the first knights.

We will have the opportunity to visit the Maritime Museum.

Housed within the Old Naval bakery, the Malta Maritime Museum charts Malta ‘s maritime history and lore within a Mediterranean context. It also illustrates the global nature of seafaring and its impact on Malta’s society. The museum houses numerous artefacts highlighting the different epochs of Malta’s history that is inadvertently tied to the sea.

We shall also visit the Inquistor’s Palace. Situated in the heart of Vittoriosa, is one of the very few surviving of its kind which, in the early modern period could be found all over Europe and South America.

Return to Hotel by coach.

Depart hotel, transfer in coach with licensed guide, towards the port of Cirkewwa, in the north of Malta. We will board the ferry, for a 20 minutes crossing to Gozo, Malta’s sister island. Arrival in Mgarr, Gozo where our coach will be waiting for the group for a tour of this beautiful island.

The charm of Gozo is apparent the moment you arrive there. Greener, more rural and smaller than Malta, life on Gozo moves at a leisurely pace. Gozo is steeped in myth. Thought to be the legendary Calypso’s isle of Homer’s Odyssey, it’s a peaceful, mystical backwater. Baroque Churches and old stone farmhouses dot the countryside. During the visit to Gozo we will visit the Ggantija temples, the oldest freestanding neolithic temples in the world, dating back to 3800 B.C. Afterwards we will visit the capital city of Gozo Victoria (Rabat) and the Cittadella Fortress.

Rabat is a medieval town with winding streets and a magnificent named after the patron saint St George. The Cittadella is a fortress town with fantastic views of the whole of Gozo. The guide will take participants around this fortress.

A two course lunch excluding beverage is included in the tour.

After lunch group will visit the Inland Sea, and the Salt Pans.

Cross back by Ferry and transfer back to hotel.
