Phonochorion Uvarov (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae: Phaneropterinae) is a little known genus consisting of three species: Ph. satunini, Ph. artvinensis and Ph. uvarovi. The objective of this study is to conduct a thorough distributional, taxonomic and system- atic revision of the genus Phonochorion using both bioacustic and external morphological characters. Field surveys indicate that the genus is distributed from the Trabzon region of Turkey to the Khulo province of Georgia however the exact limit of the eastern dis- tribution of the genus remains unknown. Phonochorion species occur only on the northern slopes of the East Black Sea and Lesser Caucasus Mountains. The Coruh Valley, which seprates the East Black Sea and Lesser Caucasus Mountain ranges, seems to be an effective physical and climatic barrier and determines the distribution of these species. Ph. uvarovi can clearly be distinguished from Ph. satunini and Ph. artvinensis by the calling songs of males and external morphological characters. Ph. artvinensis and Ph. satunini differ in several taxonomic characters but the males have virtually identical calling songs.

My analysis focuses on how Hopa Hemşinlis construct their past at the present, as well as the already existing studies on Hemşin history within a discussion of history writing in general. This study also describes the history of Hemşince focusing on the language ideologies held by Hopa Hemşinlis in addition to the processes having impact on the use of Hemşince. In this study, it is depicted that Hemşin history and language are resorted as sites for ethnic identity negotiations and discussions by researchers as well as Hopa Hemşinlis. Although there have been endeavors to attain Turkish and Armenian origins to Hopa Hemşinlis, which still continue today, Hopa Hemşinlis exhibit a strong sense of Hemşinli identity. As the energy resources in the world are gradually depleted, studies on obtaining energy from such wastes have increased. In this study, the current waste management in two provinces of Turkey, Trabzon and Rize, was discussed and the system was explained in detail. In the context of integrated waste management, in order to decide on the most appropriate waste management option, provincial central waste characterization was carried out and seasonal variation in the waste composition was investigated. According to the results, approximately 65-75% of Rize municipal solid waste was found as organic waste and 35-25% as recyclable waste. Moisture content was determined as 68-70% on average annually.

Thanks to this extraordinary location, the lands of Turkey have been the homeland of many different civilizations such as Hittite, Lydian, Lycian, Ionian, Phoenician, Troyan, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman civilizations for the last 4000 years. As such, it has gained great historical, cultural and social diversity. Turkey has an almost rectangular shape with a total land area of 783 577 km2, surrounded by Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran to the east, Iraq, Syria and the Mediterranean Sea to the south, the Aegean Sea to the West, Greece and Bulgaria to the north west and the Black Sea to the north (Fig 1). (Ordu, Erzurum), Aploderus transversicollis sp.n. (Samsun), Atheta (Parameotica) soganlica sp.n. (Trabzon), Borboropora myrmecophila sp.n. (Antalya), Gabrius pravus sp.n. (Samsun), Gyrophaena ciliciana sp.n. (Adana), G. cultellata sp.n. (Samsun), G. spoliata sp.n. (Samsun), Ochthephilum hamatum sp.n. (Muğla), Oxypoda meybohmi sp.n. (Kahramanmaraş), O. miricornis (Kahramanmaraş), Stenus (Hemistenus) abstrusus sp.n. (Gümüşhane, Giresun, Trabzon), and S. (H.) abrasus sp.n. (Rize). The sexual characters of several additional species are illustrated. Aleochara caloderoides ASSING, 2007 is attributed to the subgenus Ceranota STEPHENS, 1839. The preoccupied name Atheta akiensis ASSING, 2006 is replaced with Atheta albomontis nom.n. A lectotype is designated for Lathrobium decipiens CZWALINA, 1888, a preoccupied senior synonym of Tetartopeus czwalinai (JAKOBSON, 1909); its habitus and aedeagus are illustrated. A total of 39 species are recorded from Turkey for the first time, one of them, also for Morocco, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, and various European countries. Numerous new province records are reported.
