Supporters leaving the stadium on 18 th October 1981 thought that they had witnessed the final meeting at the venue which Tigers had called home since July 1977. Planning permission was sought for a move to Craighead Park, home of Blantyre Celtic F.C. and literally yards away behind the second bend of the stadium circuit. But as the new year dawned the situation was far from clean cut. What follows is a résumé of events in the lead up to the start of the 1982 season as reported in Speedway Star.
