MISSOULA— First-year University of Montana basketball coach Mike Montgomery pulls no punches when it comes to predicting where his Grizzly team will be when it comes to the Big Sky Conference race. "Basically, I expect to be competing for the Big Sky title," said the man who became the 17th coach at UM since its basketball program began in 1904. "I think the league will be much stronger this year, and there will be a few teams contending for the championship." Montgomery, 31, who had been Jim Brandenburg's assistant for the past two seasons, began practice last Sunday.
