Open Call for Applications: Information & Application Pack We Out Here Festival 2019; A Worldwide Family Gathering In partnership with the Albany We Out Here 2019 We Out Here is the a brand new project courtesy of Gilles Peterson, Worldwide FM and Brownswood Recordings. The festival will host an array of musically eclectic programming across the 15th to 18th August 2019. The line-up is diverse and features performances from The Comet Is Coming, Sons of Kemet, Nubya Garcia, Kojey Radical, Swindle, Moses Boyd and many more! This is a great opportunity to join their inaugural four day programme in the beautiful Abbots Ripton, Cambridgeshire. The festival is curated by Peterson – DJ, producer, and founder of the record label and radio station behind this festival – and takes its name from a hugely popular compilation of UK jazz from last year released on Brownswood. The Albany Music Programme: ‘Collaborating with artists is the thing that drives us. What we’re really interested in is how we can make a difference – how can we help people get onto the next stage’ - Rachel Nelken Head of Creative Programmes The Albany is an organisation with a rich musical heritage – gigs throughout the last 30 years have included the Wailers and the Clash, and 15 legendary Rock against Racism gigs. The Albany has a small programming budget but we guarantee all the artists we work with a fee, and usually offer a split on top of that. We also have great participatory programmes working both with young people and elders, giving artists who want to develop that side of their practice a new opportunity. We currently programme music across 2 South London venues – The Albany, Deptford and Canada Water Theatre in Southwark. We can offer musicians rehearsal space on site, and even tech time in our theatre to craft their show. We also have a lot of experience in working with artists to help them put funding applications together. This is the approach we are taking with the brilliant music artists we are engaging with, who may well be mid-career or high-profile but it seems have never been offered this sort of support before. Wherever we can give musicians the time, space and support to develop their ideas and practice we will do. What is the Open Call and who is eligible? In partnership with We Out Here, The Albany are inviting artists to apply as part of an open call for a performance slot at the festival, and the chance to join this amazing line up of artists. The opportunity on offer is a chance to perform a set across the festival weekend. The successful artists will also be offered: 2 x festival tickets per performer 1 x meal and drinks voucher per performer Up to £75 contribution to travel costs per act (for clarity this is not per performer) Please note: This opportunity does not include accommodation, and you will be expected to provide your own instruments.
