I do not think there can be any doubt that Mr. McKinlay has now very clearly put on record three important facts: 1. The scope of Audit Scotland’s work on Actual Reality and Castle Toward was limited to the sales of Castle Toward and Ardentinny; and it was only the results of that work which were given in the annual audit report to elected members and to the Controller of Audit. 2. You have known about this limitation all along because the scope of Audit Scotland’s work was agreed in an exchange of letters between you and Fiona Mitchell-Knight in February this year. 3. Audit Scotland accordingly did not carry out any detailed audit work on the allegations that we have made about the closure of Castle Toward in 2009 and they are “therefore not in a position to comment on the substance or otherwise of them”. My purpose in writing to you now is to ask you to account for the claims made in the name of the Council, that Audit Scotland have supported, confirmed, or validated Council officers’ position that our allegations about the events of 2009 have no substance.

The current mausoleum was originally built North Dunoon Cycle Northern Loop in the 1790s with its slate roof replaced with a large cast iron dome at a later date. My Journey Into the past by Dianne Muller ~~March 15, 2014, Genealogy Library, Phoenix, Oregon~~ “I am so done with this! I give up!! I am never going to try this again,” I thought angrily. What was I so upset about? I had tried many times over the last 20 years to ferret out new information about my family’s genealogy, but I could never get anywhere. I certainly had tried. Using the four pages of handwritten family history that my mother received from a family member in the early 1990s, I hoped to add more data. They state that John Sitlington, the ancestor of all the American Sitlingtons in my mother’s family, lived in the 1600s and was a “full blood Scot.” He had come to Ballyiston, Ireland (seven miles from Larne), and lived there running a “bleach green,” a linen mill.1 In 2006, I had taken those papers to the Scottish Games in Pleasanton, California.

    Proc Soc Antiq Scot, 130 (2000), 651–676 Excavation of 10th-century burials at Chapelhall, Innellan, Argyll, 1994 John A Atkinson* with contributions by E Photos-Jones, J Roberts, A Rutherford & C Smith ABSTRACT This paper describes results of salvage excavations undertaken on the remains of an early medieval cemetery at Chapelhall, Innellan, Argyll, in 1994. The limited excavations revealed a total of nine burials located in four trenches on a house building site. The graves indicate the existence of a late 10th-century burial ground associated with the site of a known chapel c 10 m to the north. At least three long cist burials were recognized, two of which were subsequently excavated. Finds recovered from the burial deposits included animal teeth and metallurgical waste. INTRODUCTION In early May 1994 Glasgow University Archaeological Research Division (GUARD) was requested by West of Scotland Archaeology Service (formerly Strathclyde Regional Council Heritage Division) to deal with a series of burials uncovered during foundation trenching at a house building plot on the outskirts of Innellan village, Argyll (NGR: NS 1394 6894). The site was located adjacent to the A815 coastal road between Dunoon and Toward, along the eastern side of the Cowal peninsula, southern Argyll, between the shore and Chapelhall House (illus 1). The salvage excavations were funded by the West of Scotland Archaeology Service (WoSAS), while the post-excavation work was grant-aided by Historic Scotland. ARCHAEOLOGICAL BACKGROUND The brief set by WoSAS was to assess whether the skeletal remains uncovered during foundation trenching constituted an archaeological discovery or a matter for the local police.
