INTERNATIONAL MARKETING CONFERENCE A conference on Marketing, Society and Disruption at TAPMI Manipal (India) on 26th – 28 th April 2019 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) INTERNATIONAL MARKETING CONFERENCE Marketing practitioners and scholars have shown profound interest in building customer value, developing innovative products, leveraging pricing tactics to match consumer demand, managing brands, developing and managing marketing channels, and various other activities which enable them to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. Of late, they have also started to understand the paramount importance of direct and indirect effects of marketing activities on society as a whole. Most of these effects have been captured through systematic research in domains such as corporate social responsibility, social and cause-related marketing, and sustainable marketing. On the other hand, newer trends and disruptive practices have also emerged in recent times that are shaping the direction of marketing. Some of these trends are: (a) Connected knowledge economy, (b) Globalizing, converging, and consolidating industries, (c) Fragmenting and frictionless markets, (d) Empowered customers and consumers, (e) Adaptive organizations, (f) Digital/online marketing practices, and (g) Use of big data and analytics to achieve consumer insights. This conference invites original research ideas and articles on best practices from academicians, doctoral scholars and practitioners related to our conference theme highlighted above. Parasuraman James W. McLamore Chair and Professor, Marketing Prof. A. Parasuraman is a Professor in Marketing in the Miami Business School (MBS) at the University of Miami, USA. He is considered one of the most influential figures in the field of services marketing and service quality, and is widely known for his work on SERVQUAL, E-S- QUAL, and the Technology Readiness Index (TRI). He has published over one hundred articles in prestigious academic and management journals such as Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Services Research, and Journal of Business Research. He is also the author of some of the most popular and widely known books on services marketing and marketing research. Prof. A. Parasuraman has received many prestigious awards like the Outstanding Marketing Educator and Distinguished Fellow by Academy of Marketing Science in 2001 and 2004 respectively, Elsevier Distinguished Scholar by Society of Marketing Advances in 2009, and Distinguished Alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 2005, to name a few for his outstanding scholarly contributions in the field of Marketing. Interested participants should submit extended abstracts, which conform to the following guidelines: Ÿ MS-Word Ÿ Single-spaced, one-inch margin on all sides Ÿ Times New Roman with 12-point font size Ÿ Should not exceed 1500 words (excluding figures, tables, and references) Ÿ Should have a representative list of references Ÿ Should contain a title page with author details (e.g. photo, name, affiliation, email-id, correspondence address and biography in 100-150 words) for each author Important Dates are as follows Last date of extended abstract : 24th December 2018 (Monday) Announcement date of acceptance : 31st January 2019 (Thursday) Registration opens on : 7th February 2019 (Thursday) Last date of registration : 11th March 2019 (Monday) All the abstract submissions and queries should be made electronically on [email protected]. The selected abstracts will be published in form of a book of abstracts. Registration and accommodation details Participation in the conference is by pre-registration only. The registration fee for non-author participants includes breakfast, coffee breaks and lunch for all three days. Registration fees can be conveniently paid online. Accommodation facility is available on first come first serve basis in TAPMI guest house at reasonable rates. Manipal town has many hotels within 5 km radius of TAPMI campus that offer accommodation to guests at reasonable rates. Oral presentations for academicians and practitioners For presenting your research at the conference you need to submit an abstract of the research to be presented. Please refer to the author guidelines for the preparation of abstract. All abstracts would be reviewed by experts and on acceptance of the abstract an invitation for presentation will be send to the corresponding author by email only. Doctoral consortium The conference will host a doctoral colloquium. The consortium aims at giving doctoral students an opportunity to interact with their peers, researchers and domain experts. A doctoral student can participate or present their research specially in the consortium by submitting an abstract of their presentation. For submissions, students are requested to refer to the author guidelines for preparation of extended abstracts. About TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal The student city of Manipal, Karnataka plays host to the T.A. Pai Management Institute, fondly known as TAPMI. Established in 1980, TAPMI is one among the 5 institutes in the India and 5% of the top business schools worldwide to have been accredited with the illustrious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation which is the oldest and toughest accreditation in the world of business education. There are two main cities close to Manipal that serve as entry points, Udupi and Mangalore. Udupi is 5 kms from Manipal and Mangalore 65 kms away. Flying in: The nearest airport is Mangalore (also known as Mangaluru) which is one and half hours drive by road. There are daily domestic flights from major Indian cities.
