w w w . m i i s t i c o . c o m THE NODES

The North Node represent what must be learned in this lifetime. This involves the resolution of paradoxes into completeness. At its most basic level it represents our destiny. The South Node indicates something of the native’s previous life, the mode of being that we naturally fall back onto when we are afraid. At its most basic level it represents our karma.

ARIES/LIBRA

The Aries/Libra nodal axis is the axis of identity. The purpose is to learn to develop a sense of self as an individual within the context of relating to other individuals. It teaches us that we must learn to develop our individual identities and yet maintain them in relationship to others; developing personal boundaries and maintaining them in relationship to others. We must learn to what degree we must be selfish and be allowed to express our individual needs and desires, and at what point we must learn to compromise with others.

TAURUS/SCORPIO

The Taurus/Scorpio axis relates to the universal cycles of birth and death, of growth and destruction. The purpose of this axis is to learn to surrender to the natural cycles of life, and to be open to change when its necessary. Both Taurus and Scorpio are concern with sustaining and maintaining the core issue of self- worth. True growth occurs in cycles, and in order for us to be able to continue to grow, a part of us must die. The Taurus/Scorpio nodal axis teaches us how to get in touch with these cycles, to understand when it is time to put down roots and grow, and when it is time to tear down some of what we have created, so that we can eventually rebuild structures that will allow us to grow even more.

GEMINI/SAGITTARIUS

The Gemini/Sagittarius nodal axis is the axis of the mind. The purpose is to learn how to balance the lower mind with the higher mind; the immediate environment with the cosmos, knowledge and information with truth and understanding. We must always maintain our curiosity and flexibility; but it must also be guided by higher understanding and philosophy. Searching for an understanding of universal truth is important, but we must also discover how to apply these truths on smaller scale in our daily lives. Knowledge must always be tempered with understanding and perspective.

w w w . m i i s t i c o . c o m THE NODES

CANCER/CAPRICORN

The Cancer/Capricorn axis is the axis of responsibility. The purpose of this axis is to learn how to find a balance between our responsibility to take care of ourselves, and our responsibility to take care of others in the form of our duties to our family and to society. In each case, we must also learn what it means to be truly selfish; meaning being responsible for making sure that our individual needs are being met before we devote any of our resources to helping others meet their needs. Once we are able to help ourselves, however, then we do have an obligation to assist others, not simply by meeting their needs for them, but by helping them discover how they can take personal responsibility for their lives and begin to meet their needs in their own.

LEO/AQUARIUS

The Leo/Aquarius nodal axis is the axis of group dynamics. The purpose of this axis is to learn to find balance between prominence in the group and equality in the group. Concerned with self-worth. True unconditional love comes when the head and the heart are balanced, a lesson that we can learn from the Leo/Aquarius nodal axis. It teaches us how to relate to humanity both as a group identity and on an individual level. Unconditional love requires a balance between these two points of view. It must come from the heart, and is best shared on an individual basis, but it must also be tempered with perspective from the head, and the understanding that everyone is equally deserving of love and acceptance.

VIRGO/PISCES

The Virgo/Pisces axis is the axis of matter and spirit. The purpose is to learn how to balance between discrimination and assimilation, and between isolation and integration. Each of these realms is equally important, ant ultimately through working with the Virgo/Pisces axis, we can begin to understand how they are part of each other. We can learn to spiritualize our daily lives and routines, and at the same time, we can learn to anchor and ground the spiritual energies in our lives.
