You’re driving to school in the morning and as soon as you get to school, a song comes on. You get out of your car and get ready for a full day of school. By lunch you have that song stuck in your head. So what do you do? You take out your iPod and listen to the song. That will no longer be possible due to the school’s “new” iPod policy. All electronics are ri al E di to banned during school hours. MP3 players and iPods will be confiscated and sent to the office if they are out during class or in the hallways. In previous years, teachers have been in control of electronics in their classrooms. Some teachers let students listen to their iPods while they worked, rather than during lectures. The downside to letting teachers have control is that not everyone will obey the rules. Teachers that didn’t want iPods in their classrooms still had people listening to them. Students had temptations to listen to their iPods in these classes because their iPods were just in their pockets. By eliminating electronics all together, teachers no longer have to spend their time telling students to turn off their music. Teachers can now fully engage students during class time. It is tempting to just put in your iPod and drown out your teachers, but that does not ac- How To: complish anything. That just ends up hurting the student’s ability to learn.
