Clod Ensemble is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity www.clodensemble.com www.performingmedicine.com ABOUT COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER ROLE Having recently undergone a transformative period of organisational and artistic development, enabled in part by a £1m investment from Wellcome Trust, we are seeking a proactive and imaginative Communications Manager to join us, to provide exceptional communications for the company. You will have a keen aesthetic sensibility, and be confident in building relationships and communicating with new and existing audiences. This is an exciting opportunity for a brilliant individual to join our growing organisation in a key role. Photo Manuel Vason ROLE DESCRIPTION Job Title: Communications Manager Contract: 3 days per week, fixed term for 2 years Salary: £28,000 pro rata Pension: Clod Ensemble operates an auto-enrolment stakeholder pension scheme Other benefits: Childcare voucher and cycle to work scheme. Working hours: Office hours are usually 10am- 6pm Monday to Friday. Exact days agreed subject to discussion with post-holder. Flexible hours may be offered in certain circumstances. Some evening and weekend work will be expected; no overtime is paid, and we operate a TOIL system. Holiday: 25 days pa excl. public holidays Location: London Fields, Hackney Responsible to: Producer Responsible for: Management of freelancers and suppliers. Supported by Assistant Producer on marketing implementation and digital marketing tools Purpose of post: To bring new audiences to our work nationally and internationally. To consolidate our existing loyal audience base across a range of sectors, including arts, science and medicine. Developing our brand recognition and increasing our audience attendance figures are key outputs of the role. STRATEGIC • Develop and deliver the communications strategy for the organisation, driving box office sales, audience development and brand recognition. • Devise content strategy and tactical plans to increase reach and engagement among Clod Ensemble’s target audience groups. • Work with Clod Ensemble’s PR agencies to nurture, develop and maintain press and media coverage and contacts. • Represent the company at events and meetings and nurture good relationships with co-producers, partners and funders. • Working with both Performance and Performing Medicine teams to create high-quality content that reflects the breadth and depth of the programme • Proactively acts as a 'brand guardian' ensuring the appropriate use of the visual identity. MARKETING AND PUBLICITY • Initiate and plan marketing campaigns, identifying key communications objectives, messaging and outcomes. • Work closely with PR and Marketing teams in partner organisations to ensure cohesive and impactful campaigns. • Directly run campaigns, including but not limited to oversight of graphic design, copywriting, photocalls, producing print, advertising and promotions, managing freelance contractors. E-COMMUNICATIONS & WEBSITE • Oversee content development and messaging for Clod Ensemble and Performing Medicine websites • Oversee the creation and delivery of e-communications; and develop strategies for email acquisition, working to build the newsletter subscriber list SOCIAL MEDIA • Oversee social media presence ensuring the story of whole organisation is shared • Support and advise staff on creating engaging content and to provide guidance on tone of voice FINANCIAL • Set and manage marketing budgets, monitoring expenditure, and to work with the General Manager to ensure timely payment of invoices. DATA & EVALUATION • With the General Manager, to be responsible for the collection audience and participant data across all programmes and feed into reporting for funders. • With the General Manager, ensure that the management and use of customer data complies with legal data- protection standards and best practice. • Monitor and evaluate campaign activity and report to company on results • Expand use of analytic tools to track progress of marketing strategy and campaigns to inform future planning. GENERAL To share responsibility for: • Answering phones and respond to general enquiries and correspondence. • Keeping company calendar and schedules up to date. • Attending weekly company meetings • Taking shared responsibility for the cleaning and up-keep of the office. Photo Hugo Glendinning PERSONAL SPECIFICATION Essential Desirable Experience & Knowledge Experience in a similar role, including a strong understanding of X Communications and Audience Development principles within the arts landscape. Proven track record of developing and implementing multi-channel X marketing strategies, including digital, social media, print and advertising A flair for composing and commissioning compelling content, particularly on X digital platforms. Demonstrable experience of maintaining a high-quality threshold in all X aspects of design implementation, ensuring brand consistency. Experience of dealing with the press and managing PR strategies, creating X media moments around key campaign milestones Demonstrable experience of managing relationships with partners, X stakeholders and suppliers. Digital-asset production skills, e.g. use of Flash, Photoshop, video-editing X software. Analytical approach to interpreting customer insight from a range of data X sources. Commitment to equality and diversity across communications, ensuring that X language and imagery used is accessible and not exclusionary Skills & Attributes A keen interest or specialist knowledge in at least one of the following; X theatre, live art, dance, visual arts Excellent project management skills, with an eye for detail and the ability to X prioritise workload and deliver to deadlines Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing with a wide range X of people.
